  • Video: Toys R’ Us & The Dora Book Bag

So last saturday we went to Toys R’ Us to buy a birthday present for Zoe’s friend Ethan and a housewarming present for her friend Morgan. It’s already started. She LOVES Toys R’ Us.  While wandering around she found this backpack that was WAY too big for it. The reason she picked it out is because she recognized Dora’s face. It’s so big I could have probably shoved her in it and wore it myself. She brought it over to me, handed it over, turned her back to me for me to put it on her. *rolling my eyes* So I did and whipped out my Flip Camera and just followed her around the store. She’s a really good walker now and as you will see in the video she has a need to touch everything and their mother.

Note: I edited this video on Flip first (to combine the videos), then re-edited it on Picasa (to add the title), and then re-edited it again on Windows Movie Maker (to add and edit the music and take out the video audio). I finally got it the way I wanted it to come out but there HAS to be an easier way, no?

This is my first Flip video I’m posting and I gotta say, it’s not bad.

  • 14 Month Update + Videos

(This post took me forever to do. F.O.R.E.V.E.R!)

Zoe’s 14th month hit last tuesday. Just last month alone she’s learned so much more than any other month. And she’s sooo funny. I have no one to compare her to but I think she’s a pretty clever lil girl. She did something yesterday which upped her level of smartness and she can now say one 3 syllable word. I’ll post it later this week but she surprised us and this will have to go into her 15th month accomplishments.

I give you smarty pants monkey butt at 14 months…

    She can:
:: Eat really well. She especially loves watermellon, canteloupe, miso soup, mac and cheese, and dduk gook. I have to try to make kongnameul gook and see if she likes that.

    :: Walk

:: When I’m doing the dishes and she wants me to play with her she comes to the kitchen and wedges herself between the cabinet and my legs and starts shoving me away from the sink.

:: We watch the videos on Noggin.com and there’s a song called Mister by Laura Berkner where she sings about Mr Elephant and the kids on the video throw their head back and make a trunk out of their arm and belt out an elephant sound. Zoe doesn’t do the trunk but she throws her head back and tries to make the elephant sound.

:: There’s another video where Moose A. Moose goes “Music makes me toot-toot-toot!” She goes “Too-too!”

:: She knows the number two and the number nine. I never taught her this. I was reading her a Little Einstein book and I was counting the blocks and after I counted to seven she said “Aye…NIGH!”  We were like “WHAT DA?!” Now she won’t do the eight but she’ll do the “nigh” even though sometimes she says it after six…sometimes seven….we just have to work out the kinks.

Here she refused to count cause I kept making her repeat it.

:: When you say “ja-ja” (sleep) she either drops to the floor and lies down or she’ll say “ja-ja.”

:: She can say “ma-ma” (food)

:: Everything is No. You can ask her a question and she’ll respond “No”. We were sitting on the couch and her daddy was going off about how good looking he is and I was just rolling my eyes trying to ignore him while Zoe sat on my lap facing me and I asked “Zoe is daddy good looking?” She goes “no” WITH THE HEAD SHAKE mind you. He then asked her “Is mommy pretty?” She didn’t respond. THAT’S MY GIRL!

:: She can say yes but only if you prompt her. She still gets her no and yes confused.

:: She talks ALOT of jibberish. There’s a lot of screeching involved.

:: She is SUPER attached to me. I can’t even go to the bathroom.  She won’t let her father put her down to sleep anymore. It HAS to be me. One night we both had our hands on her bottle for her last feeding and when I moved my hand away she started whining. When he pulled his away she didn’t care.
:: She can give you rasberries on your face and say “Yay” and raise her hands in the air.

::She can also say “Wow” and “Whoa”.

:: She can do cheers with a cup.

:: She can give you a pound

: She can put her finger to her lips and go “shhh”

:: When I read her the Madeline book she copies me when I get to the ‘pooh-pooh’ part

:: She can tilt her head to the side. The first time she did this she was standing and tilted her head to the right and lost her balance and started to cry. It’s not my fault your weight is in the 10th percentile and your head is in the 80th you Giant Head!
:: When she wants me to do something for her this is usually what she says

:: We can finally play tea time together!

:: You can put chapstick on her (and she won’t try to eat it) and she knows to smack her lips together

:: She can conjure up magical powers (This is her father’s favorite)

  • Our Anniversary

Our anniversary was April 15th but we were just too busy and too tired to celebrate it. So we waited till May 3rd. My sister-in-law watched Zoe while we headed out for our date. I was told that she kept looking for me and kept saying “Umma Umma Umma…”

    Can you say broken record?

It was nice being out with just the 2 of us but I missed her even though it was a few hours. On our way to dinner I said, “Don’t you miss her?” The hubs responds, “No.”

This is why I’m her favorite.

No photography was allowed inside. I hate that. Bastards. However I did enjoy the show.

Afterwards the hubs took me to Ruth Chris. You know, I have never eaten at a steak house before. I know. I’m deprived. Don’t get me wrong, I love steak. I just don’t get what the big deal is in steak houses. We shared a porterhouse. After that I knew what the big deal was. I had to say something after each bite. It was like…

    Me: *chewchewchew* omigod… *chewchewchew* …it’s so tender… *chewchewchew* …it’s like… *chewchewchew* …so juicy… *chewchewchew* …I can’t believe… *chewchewchew* …I don’t need A1…

He just laughed at me. When they brought out the steak I was like “Big Deal! It’s not that big. I can finish this!” I scoffed. I almost finished. I just couldn’t take the last bite. It was good though. Damn effin good.

I have no photos of the hubs and I from that night. I forgot at the steakhouse.
However I do have one with Zoe after we gave her her gift. She started smiling when I put it on and couldn’t wait for me to put it on her. It suits her no?

  • JjaJangmyun

You ever see the GOD video where he sings about his mom? My husband told me about this song. He’s like,

Hubs: Yeah so it’s about how he was poor and he sings about how he wanted to eat jjajangmyun and his mom only had like enough money to buy it for him and when he asked her if she was going to eat she said she wasn’t hungry. And then she DIES!
    Me: She dies?
Hubs: Yeah cause she got really sick. So the song is about how his mom was poor and how she made sacrifices for him and stuff.
Me: WHO SINGS ABOUT JJAJJAMYUN!? That sounds stupid!
Hubs: YO! You don’t know! Ok? You have to see the video. It’s deep.
    Me: It sounds stupid.

He sent me the link to the video at work……………….
…………I started crying. STFU! It was sad. I have a heart man, black as it may be.

Anyways every time I think of jjajangmyun I think of that song now. It is embedded in my head now. Why am I even talking about this? Oh because I fed Zoe some last month and have pictures to follow. Enjoy the mess that is the Zoehan.

  • The Cousins

Thanks everyone with your help with the dweng jang recipe. I had to go grocery shopping shortly after I wrote my post so I used a Japanese recipe for miso soup which turned out great and my bokeum bap was dericious thanks to Munchkincho!

My sister came down with her family last month for a few days. It was hectic but fun.

Ellis + Zoe played with this thing forever. They would take turns looking down the pipe and every time Zoe’s hair would blow Ellis would start laughing.

So since they were playing so well together  I went outside just to throw out a bag of leaves in the backyard…

  • Recipe Question

The only thing I know how to make well is lasagna and mac and cheese…Oh and ramyun! And now that Zoe is eating solids I have upped my game in the kitchen and am trying to learn to cook more foods. So far I’ve made miyuk gook, and dduk gook, and jook, and dduk mandoo gook which is the same thing as dduk gook but you just throw in some mandoos but I wanted my list to look longer so shut up.

Tonight I want to make bokeumbap for dinner tonight with dwengjang gook. I got the bokeumbap recipe off of Munckincho’s cooking blog (Thanks Bo! Ur my lesbo if we were lesbos. I know. I say this to a lot of girls. I’m a skanky whore, what can I tell you.). However I don’t have a recipe for dwengjang gook. Any Korean sistas want to help me out?

Oh and I plan on feeding Zoe the soup too so just something very basic por favor.

  • My Mother’s Day

They showed this at my church on sunday for mother’s day and I couldn’t stop laughing. This is a mom in a nutshell.

    :: 05.10.09
Mother’s day was nice. I made breakfast, C did the the dishes, and then he went to church with us.

The teachers took photos of some of the kids and printed them up for the mommies.

After church it was OFF TO THE PLAYGROUND!!! She had so much fun considering this was her first time at a playground. She loves the slide and knows how to push herself off. She’s like a lil dare devil and I love that!

I think she loves the slide more than the swing. She had fun when we first put her in and then her head just slowly started to disappear cause she was getting tired…

Afterwards we came home and put her down for her nap and then C made us chicken fajitas for dinner and did the dishes. Thanks hun!

And for my gift? I never asked for this. I didn’t even know that he had heard of it but this was my mother’s day gift from him:

  • Playdate w/ The Justin

So a few weeks ago Nancy and I went and visited Hae Kyung at her new abode. It’s sooo spacious and she gets great lighting. Hae Kyung has commented that I never take photos of The Justin. You know what it is? I get sooo involved in the mommy talk and the goings around that I totally forget and it always happens to be when I’m with Hae Kyung who BY THE WAY has a husband who is a PROFESSIONAL PHOTOGRAPHER! Ahem. Just wanted to throw that widdle bit of information out there. *coughcough*

So this time I made sure I took photos of The Justin who by the way had no interest in anyone in the room and only cared about the Pororo video. DAMN YOU BLUE FOB PENGUIN! You will see what I mean in a few seconds… hahaha
