  • Zoe’s Vocabulary

    Zoe is learning soo fast and her vocabulary is growing. She knows so much more than I give her credit for. She has a 5 Little Monkeys book that my sister bought her for Christmas. I haven’t read it to her in a while and this morning she picks the book out of her shelf, brings it over to me, and goes “Monkey”. Then this morning she points to her daddy’s hat and goes “ahbahguh” which mean this is daddy’s. When we were leaving the house and putting on our shoes she points to her daddy’s flip flop and goes “ahbahguh” then she picks up my flip flop and goes “ummaguh” which means this is mommy’s. When we went to Barnes and Noble she sees a Wow Wow Wubbzy coloring book and goes “wow wow”. Yesterday she points to the banana and goes “manana”. Then the biggest shock to me was this evening. OVER 2 months ago I tried to teach her her body parts but she didn’t seem that interested and after a few minutes she just ran off. So I thought that maybe she was still too young for something like that. Today I said “Zoe where are your eyes?” She blinks them a few times. I think okayyyyyy. “Zoe where are your arms?” She throws them up in the air. “Where is your belly button?” She looks down and pulls her diaper down a little and points at her belly button. “Where’s your feet?” She lifted up a foot and stamped it on the floor. “Where is your head?” She touched her head with both hands. She WAS listening to me! I was so proud of her. Zoe your really surprise me every day.

  • A Day In The Life of Zoe

    :: 08.27.09 ::
    Yesterday was a long, long day. At least if felt that way to me. And it seems like someone has aborted Team Daddy and wants her position back as VP on Team Mommy. I’m a sucker for her cuteness mixed in with some backtalking so I caved.

    On our way to meet daddy at the bus stop we stopped by to say hello to Zoe’s friends. She always complains that they don’t listen to her.
    IMG_4401
    (Yes. She is wearing her Hello Kitty eyemask as a headband. Don’t ask me why.)

    I love this part of my day. It’s just routine. We head downstairs and I say “Zoe get in your car” and she just knows to go and get in. While I’m pushing her she’ll keep turning around to smile at me cuz she knows where we’re going. Then we get to the bus stop and wait. If anyone is sitting on the bench she gets really upset. She loves sitting on the bench to wait and thinks that that is OUR bench and nobody elses. Then when the bus finally arrives and her daddy gets off and holds his arms out for her to run to him in front of everyone else that got off the bus….she disses him. *sigh* What a cherished moment. *signle tear* I love the walk home even though it can be an ordeal at times with Miss Busy-body. It’s just the 3 of us walking home, talking about our day while yelling at Zoe to stop running, or stop touching stuff, or to get up off the sidewalk, or don’t put that in your mouth. It’s just 3 blocks of being in sync with my family. Cause once we get home I’m running around trying to set up for dinner while C’s busy trying to keep Zoe busy. And it’s hard for C and I to converse during dinner without any interuptions. Then the dishes have to be washed or the trash has to be collected. And then I’m running around trying to get her ready for her bath or bed. It’s the little things in life that make you happy.

  • Massachesetts – Day Three

    Lately Zoe and her father have been doing this weird nightly ritual for the past 2 nights. It’s pretty funny actually. He starts singing the Rocky theme song and just keeps going “Dun dun dun dun dun dun da dun dun da dun…” and she follows with “da da da da da da da da” and then he’ll start throwing punches and kicks in the air and she start hopping around singing her song trying to do a kick but it looks like she’s having some type of seizure while standing.

    It’s great. Hopefully I’ll get it on video today.

  • Massachusetts – Day Two

    Yesterday Zoe was babbling for me to follow her. She led me to the fridge turned around and babbled at me to open it. I open it and she points to the second shelf and goes “DOOSE!” I said “Juice?” She hisses “YEAH!” Also she does this new thing where when she calls me she doesn’t just say “Umma” she says “umMAHHHHHHHH” and the “mah” part she growls it like a monster. I feel special.

    :: 08.22.09 :: Chuck E. Cheese
    Ok we were SUPPOSED to go to the Children’s Museum in Boston. However Zoe and Ellis took turns taking naps and then it started pouring so we were like eff it. It’s not even worth it. So we went to Chuck E. Cheese. The boys played golf in the rain and later that evening Esther + I got some time off went to see The Time Traveller’s Wife. Um…it kinda sucked.

    Zoe was way overstimulated from CEC. When we got off the elevator Ellis accidentally stepped on her shoe and she tripped and hit her face on the floor. From there it went downhill and she packed up Mr Pink and Josie’s box of Dora books and wanted to go home. She got some quiet time and mellowed down eventually but geeze man. Drama!

  • Massachusetts – Day One

    :: 08.21.09 ::
    We NEVER leave the time we plan. We had a master plan of packing the night before, waking up at 6am and then heading out the door by 7am. We woke up at 6:30ish but didn’t leave the house till 8:30 BUT we didn’t leave the area till 10. We had to get gas, pick up ice for our icebox, and pick up breakfast and some pastries for my sister’s family. However we hit no traffic whatsoever and got there by 1 in the afternoon. 3 friggin hours. Usually it takes us 4. I passed out after a bit. Zoe was a saint but started getting restless towards the last 10 minutes.

    It was sooo good to see my sister and her family. I haven’t seen them since the spring. Ellis’ hair got so long. He looked like a California Korean surfer baby or something. Zoe and Ellis were practically hair twins. And Josie had gotten sooo big. She’s not the little girl I once knew. She’s sooo different now and so vocal. Actually too vocal. Haha…. Zoe started calling her “unnie” (big sister) right away. Ellis she referred to as ”baby”.

  • Packing + Teeth Talk

    I should be in bed now but no, no… a mother/wife’s work is never done. I’m making sure that everything is packed and ready to go so we can leave in the am for Massachusetts. The hubs would like to leave at 7am. *SCOFF* Yeah, we’ll see buddy!
    IMG_4188

    On another note Zoe’s sleep schedule is sooo irregular. Last night was the first time she slept from 9-7 straight through. Maybe it’s time to cut back to one nap? I also noticed that a set of molars on the bottom and her 2 canines on the top are all coming out at once. I originally thought they were her incisors but those are already out. Duh. After this she’s got only 6 more to go!

  • Update

    While taking a bath on monday with Zoe:
    “ZOE GET YOUR FOOT OUT OF MOMMY’S HOOHA!”

    Happy 17 months Zoebear!

    On tuesday I went to Marshalls and I bought
    The Giving Tree for $6 and Olivia for $5. Suhweet hehsuse. Anyways after I put Zoe down to bed last night I started reading The Giving Tree for the FIRST TIME. And even though it was a good book like everyone said, I have to tell you, the boy is a complete asshole and I wanted to cut off HIS branches…well his twig and berries really.

    So on a positive note Zoe’s diaper rash was gone by the time she woke up yesterday morning. Phew! However her poop is still not a 100% solid (“Solid…Solid…Solid”….Every time I say “solid” I feel like I have this need to echo it 3 times like in the song the Korean pop group Solid sang.). So I shall keep my mommy fingers crossed today for some solid ddongkey! C’mon Zoe! We can DO EET!

    I also ended up buying her this little Sesame Street bag that came with playing cards and crayons and she LOVES the bag. We tried taking it off her tuesday night to go to sleep and she had a fit. I made her take it off on wednesday for her nap and she had a fit so I put it in her crib so that she could nap with it (rolling my eyes). I tried taking it off before her bath and she had another episode. GEEZE!!! She’s so stubborn I have to laugh. She may look more like her daddy but she definitely has my personality traits.

    :: 08.20.09 :: It’s the first thing she put on this morning and I just put her down for her am nap with it still on her back.
