Video: Dear God…
Zoe and I have been having a rough couple of days. On thursday I was yelling at her for not cleaning up her blocks, not cleaning up animal toys, just not cleaning up period. And I know she understands what I mean cause she’ll say stuff like “Umma, I hate clean up.” By 7pm I had it and I just went off on her while she was sitting in her high chair. She put both of her hands to her eyes and just started sobbing as if she had been holding it in all day and I had just broken her. I went to unbuckle her seat so that I could just hold her in my arms and she was bawling and kind of backed away as if she was scared that I was going to do something to hurt her. I took her and just held her and she just started crying so hard and just sounded soooo sad and defeated and started to hyperventilate while burying her face into my shoulder. I remembered what LolxGirl had said. She looks at her youngest daughter Olivia and sees just how young she is and she remembers how hard she was on Maddie at that age and I remember her saying “When I look back now she was JUST a baby. I feel really bad.” I just held her and said “Mommy needs to learn how to relax right Zoe?” She was still crying hard but took a second to say “Yesh.”
I’m sorry Zoe. Mommy will learn to relax.
So we just started praying this week and we pray for nice days. When I say nice days I mean days where we don’t fight. Hahaha… -
Video: Zoe Olivia Jung
It does sound more like Zoe Oribia Jung but who cares. She knows her whole name! -
My Chimp
Zoe’s words/phrases: I can’t see, Toy Story, Buzz, Jessie, Woody, Wait a second, cool.
Sorry I’ve been mia. Just haven’t had time. Zoe’s been taking 1 1/2 naps now which means less “me” time. When we go upstairs for her nap she now sings the Yo Gabba Gabba song but her lyrics are “Naptime, naptime. Close your eye. Time for bed.” And then after I lay her down she makes me say good night like ten times before I can leave and I have to make funny faces when I say it.
Wow, so much to document since I haven’t been on in a while. Some quick things before I forget:
:: Girlfriend now knows a circle, a triangle, and a square but she pronounces the square as “squa”. I never taught her the square and triangle. I’m gonna teach her how to say parallelogram just to be funny.
:: Her favorite color is red.
:: Her favorite movie by far is The Incredibles
:: Last week she was eating dinner and I lectured her about something so she hit my arm with her hand and then we made eye contact and she knew something was about to go down so since her hand was still on my arm she started squeezing my wrists and said “massage!” She must think I’m stupid or something.
:: Her memory is amazing. She asked about her cousin Josie on our way to the church superbowl game at 5. I told her that Josie was at her house and that she was far away. When we were driving back home at 9:30 she asked about Josie again and I told her that Josie was at her own house sleeping. She said “Josie unnie far away.”
2 weekends ago my sister came down with her family. Zoe was excited cause that meant playing with cousins Josie and Ellis. Well Ellis and Zoe fought a few times and each time she would come over to me crying while Ellis is looking all like “Why is she crying? What happened? Who dun it?” Like totally innocent. Haha! So I’d take Zoe into my arms and give her a hug and say things like “You’re ok”, “He didn’t mean it”, or “Zoe you have to share”. She would stand in front of me, cup my face in her hands, and then say matter of factly, “Umma, I hate Ellis.” *sigh* So I would then say “Noo, you don’t mean that. You love Ellis right?” “Yes.” “He’s your cousin and you love him right?” “Yes.” Then she’d cup my face again and say “Umma? I hate Ellis.”
Zoe’s picked up a gross habit lately. I guess it’s kinda my fault. You know how when kids get toe jam it comes with a funk? Well I love cleaning the toe funk. She’s gotten interested in my cleaning her toe funk so now she just sits and examines in between her toes and tries to see if she can get anything out. This wonderful habit kicked in 2 nights ago. It’s the most annoying when you’re TRYING to change her diaper and she choses to examine her funk collection right then.

(The 2nd photo was actually taken at the dinner table. Girlfriend don’t hold back yo.)
Last night I put her down for bed and gave her her milk bottle. I said,
Me: Zoe I love you.
Zoe: I miss you.
Me: Big hug
Zoe: (while hugging me) hug hug hug
Then she cups my face into her hands and says “Don’t worry.”
Me: Uh I’m not you weirdo. Drink your milk. -
Movie Addict
Zoe’s words/phrases: Not yet, birthmark, Spongebob, go away, don’t worry, hot, cold, warm, Pinnochio
For the past 3 weeks Zoe has had a different favorite movie for each week. The first week it was Monsters Inc. Before she could even say Monsters Inc she’d call it “Mike”. “Mommy watch Mike!” is how she would ask me to put it on. She loves it when Sully and Mike are working out in the beginning and when I ask her to do Boo she goes “dadada” which is one of the sounds Boo makes throughout the movie. When you ask her to do Roz she imitates the nasaly voice and says “Always watching you.”
The week after that she started off watching The Incredibles but then The Little Mermaid arrived vial mail on wednesday and she was ALL about Ariel. However I noticed towards the end of the week that she started hitting us. I didn’t think anything of it but addressed it each time she would do it. And not that she hits hard but hitting is hitting and it could get worse later on ya know where she just smacks the crap outta ya.
Well last week she was ALL about The Incredibles. I think one day last week I saw it 6 times in one day and then it dawned on me.. She’s learning to hit us from this movie! There’s a WHOLE LOTTA fighting in it. You think something like The Incredibles is harmless until you realize that she doesn’t see things the way you do. She’s seeing this for the first time. All the fighting and the hitting and the punching. Yet I don’t want her to not watch it either because she LOVESSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS it. She can already say Mr Incredible, Dash, Jack Jack, Elastigirl, Violet, and Mirage. We’re still working on Frozone and Buddy. I’ve even heard her mimic some lines here and there. I have no idea why she loves it so much cause it’s not like she sits there and watches the whole entire movie but the girl LOVES it.This week girlfriend is still sitting in the VIP section of The Incredibles train. *shaking my head* First thing she said to me (FIRST THING!) Sunday morning when she woke up was…
Me: Good morning sunshine! Did you sleep well?
Zoe: (puts my face in her hands so that she has my undivided attention) Umma I love Incredibles!
Me: …………..that’s nice.
I HATE The Incredibles.
Here’s a lil video clip of Zoe’s Roz impersonation: -
Recipe: Sour Cream Pancakes
I found this recipe on the Barefoot Contessa site however since I’m not a big banana fan I left it out. It was still really good and the lemon zest makes such a difference!
1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
3 tablespoons sugar
2 teaspoons baking powder
1 1/2 teaspoons kosher salt
1/2 cup sour cream
3/4 cup plus 1 tablespoon milk
2 extra-large eggs
1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract
1 teaspoon grated lemon zest
Unsalted butter
Pure maple syrupIn a medium bowl, sift together the flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt. Whisk together the sour cream, milk, eggs, vanilla, and lemon zest. Add the wet ingredients to the dry ones, mixing only until combined.
Melt 1 tablespoon of butter in a large skillet over medium-low heat until it bubbles. Ladle the pancake batter into the pan. Cook for 2 to 3 minutes, until bubbles appear on top and the underside is nicely browned. Flip the pancakes and then cook for another minute, until browned. Wipe out the pan with a paper towel, add more butter to the pan, and continue cooking pancakes until all the batter is used. Serve with butter, and maple syrup.
