  • A Day At The Farm

    Zoe’s Daily Funny:
On Sunday morning we went to a Korean bakery to have breakfast before church. Zoe was sitting next to her dad and I was sitting across from her. She chose the toasted egg salad sandwich with ham. She would take these little nibbles and then smile up at me all cute in between each bite. Her father was more worried about the time so every now and then they would bicker and then she had it. These are little snippets of their bickering throughout my peaceful breakfast. It’s the last thing she says that’s funny.

    C: Zoe take big bites.
Zoe: Ugh ahpah I am! Stop it! (taking a big bite)

C: Zoe stop drinking just your apple juice. Hurry up and eat your sandwich.
    Zoe: Ugh stop it ahpah.

C: Zoe stop drinking so much juice. Take a bigger bite of your sandwich.
    Zoe: Ahbah! I am!

C: Zoe take bigger bites. Those are little bites.
    Zoe: Ahbah, give me space.

I was like “OH SNAPS! NO SHE DINT!!!” You don’t expect to hear that till 15 years later. Did not see that coming. I think she stabbed him in the heart. Hahaha…

She’s starting to be more of a daddy’s girl but I’m still her number one. Because of that she’s also concerned about my welfare. We parked the car half a block away from the bakery that morning. So I made her put on her jacket before we got out of the car. She walked behind us and I had on a t-shirt but I had my pashimina tied around my neck.

    Zoe: Mommy are you cold?
Me: No I’m ok. I’m a little bit but I’m ok.
Zoe: Let’s go back to the car and get you your jacket ok?
    Me: No I’m ok Zoe.
Zoe: No. You’re not ok. AHBAH! AHBAH! Let’s go back to the car and get mommy’s jacket. She’s cold ok?

C and I are like cracking up.

Me: Zoe I’m ok. Look, I can put my scarf around my shoulders and arms. See? I’m ok.
    Zoe: You’re ok?
    Me: Yes I’m ok baby.

She’s so cute at times like this.

Hi, hi, hi! Sorry. I’ve been MIA big time. I’ve been training my temp at work for the past week and a half so no time there. Plus when I get home I play with Zoe, feed her, get her ready for bed, and then I pass out with her at times. But once I am down, I am DOWN. I only get up to pee and that’s not by choice. That’s because baby number two is like squeezing the crap outta my bladder lately. My last day at work was wednesday which means I’ll have time to catch up on my entries! Woohoo!

We’re trying to cram in as much Mommy and Daddy time in with Zoe before the baby comes so we decided to go to a pumpkin patch so she could pick her first pumpkin.

After we picked our pumpkin and got back on the hayride to take us back to the main area we decided to check out the farm animals and the little kiddie rides. According to NJ state law you have to be 36″ or taller to ride on any of the rides. So Zoe was a little bummed about that but then she saw the animals and kind of forgot about it.

So she started bawling her eyes out.  So we take her into their little market so that we can buy some pies before heading home. While we were waiting for her dad to pick the pies, Zoe, who is now in a shitty mood, spots chocolate chip cookies. So I grab a bag that had two cookies in them and I said I’d buy them for her. She walks over to me with her bad attitude and snatches it out of my hand with this sour look on her face. I snatched them back and bent down to tell her to ask if she wanted them. Before I even got a chance to say anything girl SMACKS ME ACROSS THE FACE…ON PURPOSE! AWWWWWWWWWW HELLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLS NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!! I put the cookies back, pulled her aside and started to lecture her in a way she knew I was pissed. BRAT!  Her one track mind was just like “COOKIES! COOKIES!” sob sob cry cry boo hoo! You can soooooo forget about the cookies little girl. I was pissed. I told her dad and he was pissed. She passed out in the car crying.

You know, you do something nice for your kid and then when they act like this you regret doing the nice something. I just focused on the beautiful foliage on the way home. Haha…

  • Awesome Potty Seat

    Zoe’s Daily Funny:
Yesterday the hubs called and said he was running late and told us to go ahead and eat without him. So we were watching Enchanted while eating dinner and Zoe and I would sing the songs we knew in between chewing our food. She then turns to me and goes…

Zoe: Mommy you’re a good singer.
Me: Aww thanks Zoe. You’re an awesome singer.
Zoe: Thank you. Daddy always says you’re a bad singer.
Me: Oh does he? Well Zoe you and I both know who’s a bad singer right? Who’s the bad singer?
    Zoe: Daddy.
    Me: That’s right.
Zoe: When he comes home I’m gonna say “Ahpah! Don’t say my mommy is a bad singer. You’re a bad singer.”
    Me: Ok thanks Zoe!
    Zoe: Mommy?
    Me: Yeah?
    Zoe: You’re a good singer.
    Me: I know.

Do you ever send your husband on an errund like to the grocery store and when he comes back he returns with items not quite what you asked for? Like for example, I’ll tell him to buy strawberry yogurt and he’ll come back with fat free/low calorie strawberry yogurt. I don’t need low calory. Featherweight Zoe don’t need low calorie. You know?! I told him we needed a new toilet seat for our master bathroom and he brought home a toilet seat that was too long for the toilet. So I told him we needed to buy another one that fit because it was going to eventually drive me crazy. This is like the one time he went out and when he came back showed me what he got he got like 10,000 bonus husband points. He got this toilet seat at Home Depot by a company called Next Step. I think he said it was like 30 some dollars. I LOVE THIS!

  • School & Potty Training Woes

(There. I made the font larger. Hope you’re happy!)
    Zoe’s Daily Funny:

    We went to
Justin’s 3rd birthday party last saturday. Lila and Angie came over so I had this genius idea that we should use the wagon and walk over. We’re both prego, I was out of breath, Angie took over, we started going uphill, and our two girls felt like 100lbs. I mean Zoe’s only 26lbs and Lila’s 28. And I know Lila got a big badunkadunk but it got really heavy all of a sudden. The idea I think was not so genius?

Anyhoots, when we left and got home one of the items in the goody bag was a box of Toy Story bandaids. Since saturday evening I think Zoe has told me this about 8 times.
Zoe: If you bleeding then I share my Toy Story bandaid with you. If you bleeding.

So the last time I she said this I said…
Me: If I’m bleeding can I have one of your princess bandaids?
Zoe: If you bleeding then I share my Toy Story bandaid with you. Okay?

I take that as a no.

    ScHooL
She’s doing so well in school. I love that they give her homework every thursday. She really likes doing them and I like helping her. And it’s exciting because she actually GETS the assignments. I just explain it to her and she starts circling/drawing away. She tells me about the time outs she gets in school and why she got them. She tells me who she played with or if her and Crystal gets in arguments in school.  She’ll tell me that she went pee pee in the potty like a big girl. My girlfriend just put her son in daycare and she said even she noticed a huge difference in his social skills. Just this past week I actually had to fight with her to LEAVE her school when I came to pick her up. That was 2 nights in a row. It’s cause they’re all playing with toys that they don’t have at home. The 2nd time I didn’t feel so bad because there were 2 other parents there arguing with their kids to leave as well.

    PoTTy TraiNing & PaNTies
Zoe’s been going through this thing where I think especially in school she sees her friends in panties and she wants to wear them too. So we got her pull ups and we’ve been trying for a weeks and so has the teachers in her school. She knows how to go pee pee in the potty. She just hasn’t gone poopy in it yet (except that one time where I posted her crap in the potty. That was just good timing on the parental end.) She however will only go if you ask her if she needs to use the potty. She almost never just tells you. So you have to initiate it.

The first time I saw her go pee pee was at school. I had gone to pick her up and she just told her teacher she needed to go pee pee in the potty. So I went with her. She pulled down her pants and her pullup and sat on the miniature toilet. I was standing up so I leaned past her to see how big the space was from her butt to the back of the toilet seat and she started to yell at me. “No! Come out. Don’t go there mommy. No! Come out!” Ok DAYAM! So then I squatted in front of her. We’re both quiet. She smiled at me. I smiled at her and then I heard it! Trickling of the pee pee noise! YAY! So I was so excited I was like “OMIGOD ZOE! GOOD JOB! YOU’RE SUCH A BIG GIRL!” And she’s like smiling and saying “Mommy are you happy? Are you happy I pee pee’d in the potty?” “Zoe. I’m SOOOOOO happy!”

A few nights after that she was sitting on the toilet in my bathroom and I was squatting next to her just waiting for the magical noise of urine and she goes “Let’s give you a kiss.” And she leans over to kiss me. Hahaha so random

She has had a few fits about not wearing pull-ups or diapers and just wearing panties. It’s cause her friends at school just wear panties you know? She wants to be like them. Last week she came home and said “Sean says I’m a baby because I wear pull-ups.” I’m like “You tell Sean that if he wants to be friends with you he can’t say things like that. Say “Be nice. I’m still learning.”" She was crying last night because when she came home she wanted to wear “just panties like Sean.” So I kept warning her if you go in your panties we put the pull-ups on. So ALL evening she did really well. When bed time hit she told me that she wanted to wear “just panties to school like Sean”. *sigh* So I told her no. That we could practice when she came home but until she completely peed and pood in the potty that she has to wear her pull-ups and she started to bawl. I wasn’t even mad at her because I know she wants soooo badly to be a “big girl”. She sat in her daddy’s lap crying and during mid cry she said “I’m so sad!” Hahaha poor thing. This morning I sent her to school with her Belle panties over her pull-ups. It’s better than nothing right? It’s hard though. She doesn’t tell us when she has to go. You have to ask her every 15-20 minutes. Just keeping up with that I think is hard.

Here she is enjoying a bowl of vanilla ice cream after dinner while wearing her Snow White dress. She was literally trying to get EVERY last drop. ONE SHOT THAT GIRL!

    :: 09.23.10 :: Back To School Night
Zoe’s school had a Back To School Night(o-mi-god so cute!). So C and I had to leave work early to pick Zoe up from school by 4pm so the teachers can prep for the evening. I told Zoe that while we went to see her teacher that she was going to stay home and play with her older cousins, Hannah and Isabella. She already told me “I not crying!” That’s my girl.

They’re going to be doing individual parent-teacher conferences in November. It’s so weird cause I remember going to these things with my sisters and my father. And now that I’m the parent it just very surreal yet exciting. I think my husband thought I was being weird about being excited about this night but he knew I was weird when we said our vows so this shouldn’t be news to him.

This is an oldie but I never posted it. What kind of parent would do this to their child?! ME ME ME!

  • Benetton Casting Call

    Zoe’s Daily Funny:
Two nights ago Zoe and I were taking a shower together standing up. She was playing with her new Ariel bath toy while I was rinsing her hair. Then I shampooed my hair and wanted to rinse but I didn’t want Zoe to stand so close to me because I didn’t want to get my shampoo in her eye so I pushed her foward adn said “ZOE MOVE!”

She turns around butt naked, with an attitude, and yells…

Zoe: MOMMY DON’T PUSH ME. SAY EXCUSE ME. THAT’S NOT NICE.
Me: Ok you’re right. Excuse me. I’m sorry you’re right. I didn’t mean to push you.

HOT DAMN YO! YELL AT ME.
    She was right though.

So a few Fridays ago Angie had forwarded casting call info for the 2011 Spring/Summer Benetton campaign for children.
I thought, “I’m pregnant. I’m fat. I’m tired, I don’t want to be a show mom. It’s not like Zoe’s gonna get picked.” And then I totally forgot about it all weekend till monday. Come Monday I see the email still sitting in my inbox and thought what the hell. So I submitted about 5 photos.

    The Casting Call
Tuesday afternoon I got an email asking that we bring her in to the casting office. So I leave work early, stop at home to grab some stuff, pick up Zoe at school, and then drive to Jersey City to take the Path train in. I didn’t take the stroller because I wasn’t sure if it was going to rain or not and figured she could walk or if we had to she could cab it. We get to their office and meet Allison and Edward. Allison first wants to measure her height. I explained to her what they were doing and she said “I’m a big girl!” like as in “Hello my people? What’s to measure? I’m a big girl! Like duh!” Then Allison takes some head shots of her while I stand and talk to Edward. Let me just throw in Zoe and I have been calling him Prince Edward (in Zoe’s words “Like in Enchanted). She also brought Pink with her so Allison took some shots of Zoe and Pink together just for fun. She was really good with them and was busy talking to Allison about nail polish and all this girly stuff. They said they would let us know by the end of the week if she would need to come in for the go-see on Friday.

    The Go-See
By Thursday they emailed and said that the Benetton team would like to meet with her. So on Friday I went in with the hubs. I couldn’t do the commute alone again. I don’t drive into the city because I get really scared. I’m intimidated by the aggressive drivers in the city. So the hubs drove us. There were so many kids and mothers. We checked in with Allison and Prince Edward. Zoe was still sleeping on my shoulder and I told Allison that after we left them she made me go out and buy her red nail polish so it could look “just like Allison’s”. All of a sudden I see her hand go up towards Allison’s direction to show off her nails. I don’t know when she woke up but it was so funny. After probably 20-30 minutes we got called back. While we passed Allison’s station Zoe stopped and told Allison in an excited voice while pointing to the apple logo on her laptop “SNOW WHITE HAS AN APPLE TOO! SNOW WHITE HAS AN APPLE TOO!” Okayyyyyyyyyyyy let’s go! Focus you! Zoe changed into a blue and white stripe romper and these mary-jane like navy blue sneakers. She actually asked if she could keep the outfit. Girl, you ain’t no celebrity yet! She practiced her “big smile” while we waited in line. She told me she was going to do her small smile because she’s a small girl. I told her she should do the big one where her eyes disappear because she’s a big girl and that smile made her look super happy. She gets called in, holds her name card, the photographer takes shots of her all the while just asking her to repeat what he says, and then it was over. She never got to smile because no one cued her to. I thought “She’s not getting it. Oh well. It was worth a shot.” The photographer asked C and I what Zoe’s background was. We said she was Korean. He said “Full?!” We’re like “Yeah.” I thought that was odd but maybe because there were a lot of mixed Asian kids there. Not sure. They told us they’d let us know by Saturday evening at the most. While we were there we ran into another mother we knew, Min, who had brought her son in. She had told me that they would let them know by the end of day. By Saturday morning I was sure she didn’t get it. I never thought she’d get as far as she did though but that would have been good enough for us. Saturday afternoon they told us that she was one of the girls selected and to bring her in Monday morning at 9.

    The Benetton Photo Shoot
So I pretty much got everything ready the night before: pull-ups, drinks, snacks, fruit, extra clothes, etc… So in the morning we just had to wash, change, and load the car and go. Zoe had yogurt in the car for breakfast and she was in a great mood (THANK GOD). So we get to the shoot and they take another head shot of her when we get in. They had a table with food so I grabbed some fruit and bread but she didn’t want to eat. She wanted to color with the other girls that were there in the waiting room, Sakura and Beauty. There was another girl that was there who had the most beautiful toddler fro name Johanna but she was super shy. Sakura I think was the oldest of the group but I think she’s the only one who’s had modeling experience. She’s currently in the winter children’s campaign for Benetton 2010. By 9:30ish they called the girls in for hair, makeup, and wardrobe. Zoe looked so little sitting in the makeup chair. They started to take off her nailpolish. I had a feeling they were going to do that so I showed her that I brought the polish with me so we could do afterwards just in case she got upset. She sat very still and they put her hair in a low ponytail, braided it and then wrapped it into a small bun. They hairsprayed her hair and then they did her makeup. I don’t even know what they did. I think they gave them some gloss and blush. Not sure. She got to wear this really cute girly blouse with diamond patterns and poofy shorts that were sooo cute. I might have to hit up Benetton spring/summer. They made all the girls wear these cute little maryjanes with a heart at the tip. And put girly headbands on their heads. All the little girls looked super cute especially when you grouped them together. They made them stand on this platform. The room was all white. They kicked all the moms off the set because we would be considered a distraction. We were all dying to see them. All we could hear is a lot of laughing and running and jumping. So we knew they were having a good time.

I got friendly with Nikko who happened to be the creative director (I think that’s what he said). He said I could watch in the back because he was the boss of all of them. SUHWEET. I would watch and then report back to the other moms how their little girls were doing. Zoe was having so much fun. The photographer was great. There was one point where he asked all the girls to sit on the edge with their feet hanging over and after a few seconds a few of the girls, including Zoe, got up and started to run around and he yelled out “I AM NOT YOUR TEACHER. I TOLD YOU TO SIT DOWN SO YOU SIT DOWN.” Not in a mean way but stern. Those girls ran back and sat down asap. Hahaha. I don’t remember what time it was but by the time the first shoot ended the toddler boys were arriving. They sent some of the girls home and then the girls that were left had to do a 2nd wardrobe change. They picked a frilly sleeveless floral blouse and checked shorts for Zoe. They also gave us a pair of mauve hightops to change into. I think 2 other girls were crying. The hightops were not as girly as the maryjanes. Hahahah Zoe didn’t cry but she was lying about the sneakers hurting her feet. So I finally got her to wear them with socks and then she was off again and totally forgot about her non girly sneakers she had on. By, I think now 12:30ish Allison came looking for me because Zoe wanted a hug from me. Hahahaha. They were all starting to crash one by one. They were tired and hungry. There was supposed to be a 3rd photo shoot which Prince Edward said was big because they were portrait shots. So if your child does get picked they could get a solo photos of themselves in an ad. Zoe was asked to stay for that too. They asked 3 out of the 5 girls to stay. So in the 3rd photo shoot they requested that the girls take off their blouses and put on a ombre cardigan. They picked this lime green one for Zoe and she was not having it because she didn’t want to take off her floral blouse. So then Prince Edwards and I finally convinced her to put on a pink one and we sat on the side lines waiting for her turn. When they finally called she wanted me to come with her so I had to sit off to the side. She was doing sooooooo well and following directions even though she was tired and hungry. I was really proud of her. Not because she made it this far but because she was being such a trooper. After about 10 minutes it was all over. They set up lunch. I grabbed Zoe some mac and cheese. She played a little bit. She made Allison put in Sleeping Beauty so they could watch it together. Zoe put her head on Allison’s lap to watch the movie while I sat down next to them. When Malificent popped out with her staff and crow I said…

Me: Zoe is Malificent bad or good?
    Zoe: Bad.
Me: Yeah, she needs a time out.

And then she slowly and quietly said…
Zoe: Yeah. She needs a time out…… The crow needs a time out too…… Her stick needs a time out too

And after a few minutes girlfriend was OH YOO TEE, OUT.

So what did I think of the whole thing. I think it was a great experience. Just to see what it was all about and see how things are like at an actual photoshoot. We met great people. Especially Allison, Edward, and Nikko. I thought Zoe was awesome. She played really well with the other girls. She did have a melt down with the cardigan thing but I mean in her defense she was there since 9am and you have to remember they are only 2. I honestly don’t think I can do this again. It’s just time consuming and I have another one on the way and you take headshots and go to go-sees and take time off from work and pull your kid out of school and it’s only really worth it if they make it you know? Did you know there were 700 kids that they saw? 700! I was like holy crap that’s a lot! I think every child is beautiful regardless of whether they get picked or not. It’s just cool to see your kid in an ad and just keep it as one of their many keepsakes to show them when they’ve grown up. If this is the route you’re going to take make sure your kid really likes doing it though and that they have fun. There were kids there that CLEARLY did not want to do it. And do it when they’re little because when they are older and don’t get picked they will wonder why they weren’t picked and I, as a mother, don’t think I could deal with that. I think she would be really good at other shoots as well however I just saw that last hour and thought she would have eaten by now and would already be on her cot for nap time at school but instead she’s here because of me, having a meltdown about a stupid cardigan. Haha… I did just submit her photos on the Gap castin call that’s going on but it’s just for fun.

So we will see her I think in February. They said in the store, on the ads, and on their site. I shall keep you posted. Here are the few photos I did take with my phone. They’re a little blury so don’t judge you bitches. I do wish I had snuck in a shot of Zoe at hair and makeup and a sideshot of the photographer and his crew at work from the sidelines. I regret.

  • Possible Daddy’s Girl In The Making

    Zoe’s Daily Funny:
I had just finished dinner this evening and as I was walking around the dining room area I felt alot of pressure in my southern privacy region. So I bent over to lean on a chair and just said out loud “Oh my vagina! My vagina!” All of a sudden, Zoe who’s just running around behind me yells out “OH VAGINA! WHERE ARE YOU?! VAGINA! WHERE ARE YOU?!”

I have to say, It was a special moment. So special to the point where I can even say it was magical.

Lately Zoe has slooooooooowly been switching over to team daddy. I mean don’t get me wrong, I am still her numero uno but they play more together because she now lets him play with her. She says he’s her husband when just a few months ago she claimed that she was married to me and said claimed that I was her wife and not daddy’s. We bought her a Cinderella bridal dress because she wants to “marry daddy”. I asked her if I could come to the wedding. She said no. Didn’t wanna come SO THERE! I asked her if she had a ring she said no and that she had to buy one. I laughed in her face and said I didn’t have to buy my own. SUCKA! Now if we hug she shoves me away and says “MY DADDY!” and gets super possesive. You can sooo tell he’s loving this. This is what he’s been waiting for for 2 years. Haha I’ll let him bask in this for a while. I know he’s been wanting this so badly.
