  • The Monster At The End Of This Book

    Zoe’s Daily Funny:
    {So before I start let me just tell you that Zoe doesn’t understand Korean and my mother in law doesn’t understand English}
    So on Sunday Zoe was running around the house in her Rapunzel costume while using her brother’s
    teething giraffe as a sword and the container for this as her protective helmet. I was in the living room holding Kayden and she’d run over to us and say such things like…

    Zoe: You stay here and watch the baby while I go kill the bad guys ok?!
    Me: Okay! Please be careful.
    Zoe: Don’t worry. I’ll go kill the bad guys.

    And the she’d charge into the kitchen and start wacking her grandmother in the butt with the giraffe while yelling “Die! Die! Die!” And I hear her grandmother lecturing her in Korean as she’s doing the dishes how she’s not supposed to do that to grandmothers. And Zoe’s running back towards us….

    Zoe: I killed the bad guys for you!
    Me: But Rapunzel, the bad guy is still alive! She’s doing dishes still. (Zoe looks over the dining room table at her victim who was clearly unphased by her treacherous attack)
    Zoe: Ok. Stay here and protect our baby. I’m gonna go kill him again.
    Me: Zoe let’s not..
    Zoe: I’m not Zoe!
    Me: *sigh* Rapunzel, let’s not say “kill”. Let’s say “knock him out” instead.
    Zoe: But I just pretenting.
    Me: I know but killing is still bad even when you’re pretending. Say “knock him out”.
    Zoe: Lock him out.
    Me: Knock him out.
    Zoe: Lock him out.
    Me: KNOCK him out.
    Zoe: OK! I go kill him now!
    Me: *sigh*

    And then she runs off to her unsuspecting victim once more and starts jabbing and wacking at her grandmother behind and this time yelling “Die! Stop talking you’re dead! I killed you! Die! Die! Die!” while her grandmother is still lecturing her not to do that. She then runs back to where we are…

    Zoe: I killed them for you!
    Me: Zoe what did I say? Let’s not say kill.
    Zoe: But I just pretenting.
    Me: I know but it’s not nice. What are you supposed to say?
    Zoe: I, I, I knocked her up for you!

    HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA…

    What a great dad…
    Hahaha I laughed
    reading this and wished he were my dad. My favorites are Ariel, King Triton, Snow White, The Toilet guy, and Batman with Boy Wonder. So cute. Here’s their blog. Even if that weren’t my school bus I’d make a friend on that bus so that they’d invite me to come over their house just so I could see this kid’s dad waving. I’m jealous. Haha.

    To those of you with iPads…
    Zoe loves these books. I got her “The Monster At The End Of This Book” because I read it when I was in Elementary school and I remember thinking it was hilarious. Then we found “Another Monster At The End Of This Book” by accident and she loves them both. I then accidentally found an app on iPad. It’s $4.99 but I thought it was so worth it. The app is great. Like when Grover ties the pages together or builds a brick wall you can touch the knots to untie them or poke the wall to make the bricks break. Sooo cute.

  • Video: Kayden’s Giggle

    Zoe’s Daily Funny:
    So Memorial Day weekend we took a family trip to Dutch Wonderland. Zoe’s been dying to go and the weather was nice and hot. On the last night we were eating out at a restaurant and Zoe had just gotten done eating dinner. She leaned over the table and said…

    Zoe: Ahbah can I play your iPad?
    Me: Zoe, what’s the magic word?

    She thinks about it for a moment and says…

    Zoe: Abracadabra.

    She was dead serious. I started cracking up.

    I’ve been busy busy busy but I HAVE to post some of Kayden’s milestones before months pass by and I start an entry off with “3 months ago Kayden blah blah blah”.

    AT 6 MONTHS:
    {The Bottle}
    Kayden was trying to hold his own bottle. At first I really wanted him to. Every time we’d whip out the bottle we’d place his hands on it and firmly hold them there even if we could feel him try to pull away. However now that he’s trying to hold it on his own it can be a little annoying. For example he keeps dropping the bottle so you just end up holding it yourself but when he does drop it, and God forbid he drops it and it falls off to the side and he can’t reach it, he then tries to flip his body and gets all sorts of distracted and forgets he wanted the bottle in the first place. He’s a lot more high maintenance than Zoe. Like when I give him his bottle I have to tap the bottle to DISTRACT him from NOT drinking. Does that make sense? Otherwise he will get distracted just lying there and he’ll try to flip his body over. High Maintenance (I sang that part in my opera voice by the way)! He’s really cute though I must say. He’s drinking about 6 ounces still every 3 hours. We did bump him up to 7oz (still every 3hrs) last month but then he got sick for a bit and lost his appetite so now we’re trying to build it back up. We put him down to sleep at night around 9:30-10pm and then he wakes up for a bottle anywhere from 2:30-4ish and then conks out again till it’s time for us to get up for work.

    {Teething} Don’t see anything yet but it does feel like he’s been teething forever! I believe the drool started since February. He has all of Zoe’s old teething toys but he doesn’t seem to like any of them. I put them in the freezer and give them to him and he couldn’t care less for them. So then I though “maybe it’s too cold for him?” So then I started to put them in the fridge instead and he still didn’t care for them. So ok! Fine Mr Picky-pants. I just gave them to him room temperature and he was basically like “I spit on these crappy teethers and I throw them on the floor! Sacre bleu!” I bought him this one from Nubby which kind of looks like a hand. He loved it. He was going at it for an hour where it was like GET A ROOM but then after an hour he got bored. “HIGH MAINTENANCE!” (sung in my beautiful opera voice once again). I just can’t please you fatty.

    {Rolling & Sitting} He can now flip every which way, back to front, front to back. And now we’re trying to get him to try and sit more on his own.

    {Solids}
    We just got the ok to start giving him solids. The hubs went out and bought all these jarred baby food and whole foods. I gave him corn & butternut squash. He started scrunching up his face and pushing it out with his tongue and then eventually he just stopped opening his mouth. High Maintenance (opera voice)! Then a few days later I gave him carrots. He threw up the 2 bites that I gave him plus 7ozs of milk. Lovely. I tried peaches the following week. He wasn’t having it.
