I Love My Beaba
Note: For those of you interested in the baby cubes I got mine at BuyBuyBaby but you can order them on Amazon here. I recommend ordering at least 2. I ordered one and then ended up sending the hubs back to the store for another. If you’re taking the pureeing route once you puree you have to completely let food cool down before you throw it in the freezer. So I do all of it at night and in the morning I pop them out of the cubes and throw them in freezer bags that I label with the food and date. If you take out one of your frozen cubes to feed the baby you have to reheat it till it’s piping hot and then let it cool down before you feed. This way it’ll kill any bacteria that might be in the food. If you don’t want to spend money on these then ice cube trays will also works. I just love these because I can use them to pack her food for school.
Oh also I don’t like reheating her food in the microwave and I know that’s what they do in school so I pop them in the beaba before I take them to school.
Hi. My name is Zoe’s Mommy and I’m addicted to pureeing. I’m being dead serious.
The hubs recently got this at Williams Sonoma and I lubeetlubeetlubeet!
You can cook, puree, and defrost your food all with one machine! They also recently started selling this at Giggle.
I’ve also been checking out some books on pureeing. Annabel Karmel seems to be a popular writer on children’s nutrition and she has a couple of books out on baby purees.
If you’re not a mommy and you’re on the way to being one mommy guilt makes you feel like crap. And since I didn’t breastfeed her her entire first year I’ve been plagued with guilt. But it’s hard! If you even miss ONE feeding your supply decreases so much. And not only that but your tata’s get sore. So I promised myself that once she started eating solids that I would puree her food for her and honestly, I love it. I love that she enjoys the foods I make. So far I’ve made potatoes, apples, pears, bananas, butternut squash, carrots, and peaches. I still have a canteloupe and some broccoli waiting for me to puree their asses.
So far Zoe doesn’t like apples and potatoes. So I mix the apple with a banana and the potato with carrots and it’s fine. But when she doesn’t like something she shivers and then when I try to give her another spoonful she holds up her hand to block the spoon like she’s some sort of karate master and then looks up at me with her hand on the spoon as if to say ”IF YOU PUT THAT NASTY SHIT IN MY MOUTH I’M GONNA DO SOMETHING YOU REGRET MOMMY.” You ain’t in UFC lil girl! Don’t threaten me!
:: 10.7.08 :: Apples ::
Hated it (I used red delicious). I feared for my life. I thought she was ready to bitch slap me here.
:: 10.10.08 :: Bananas
She loved this!
:: 10.11.08 :: Apples + Bananas
She didn’t mind the apples if you mixed it with the bananas.
::10.13.08:: Bananas + Rice Cereal
She didn’t like the chunky texture cause I didn’t puree it enough but she still finished it.
::10.13.08:: Potato + Butternut Squash
She doesn’t like potato by itself but she likes it with the squash.
::10.14.08:: Butternut Squash
This was what I packed her for school:
On Wednesday On Thursday
And this is all the stuff I’ve pureed over the weekend:
I told you love pureeing.

wow! you are such a devoted puree-er~ ^^ I use my monster blender and it’s a bitch to clean up… maybe I should get that blender. Thanks!
You DO like pureeing!
we got a beaba as a shower gift and i can’t wait to use it!!! everything in your post looks so yummy i want to eat it too~ that pic of her in the apple series is too cute! btw, what is she sitting on? is that a bumbo, bebepod or something else?
whoa…totally makes me want to puree! where did you get your little containers?
wow that’s amazing…If i ever have kids i totally wanna do that too… now question…potatoes…like raw ones? sorry i’m so ignorant about it…
Awe… I LOVE Zoe’s expressions and your captions that go with them! LOL too funny!!!
I think the homemade baby food is better than the gerber stuff for sure!
Your pictures are so cute but I swear, it’s the captions you put with them that make me almost snort coffee out my nose. You are too funny girl!
you’re so funny! i’m not a mom, but i just saw this puree machine in the williams & sonoma catalogue this week. i was telling my hubby how great it seemed. those little containers you used for zoe to bring to school look super cute too. where did u get those?
love the pictures and captions. the 3rd picture is soooooo freaken adorable!
i just started puree-ing too! its WAY easier than i thought! when you intro’d the foods, did you wait 4 days between potato before mixing it with squash? i’m trying to figure out how to mix two flavors or even do two separate foods in a safe way, so just thought i’d get your opinion. so far, L has had rice cereal, bananas, carrots, and this weekend we’re starting on sweet potato!! he’s eating like 2oz to 3oz solids each feeding now, its crazy! he’s not quite 6 months yet but man, he’s an eater! i have those same food cubes too! i’m going to buy 2 more sets. its so easy to freeze, feed and then pack to daycare, right?
i love those containers, where did you get them? good job on making your own babyfood!
Aww…I miss pureeing for J!!! Now the lil booger eats everything we eat.
i ordered that machine yesterday! so glad to hear that you likey it! i can’t wait to start pureeing! where’d you get those clear plastic containers with the lids attached?? and do you like that spoon? i’m looking into spoons & don’t want to get something where the mouth part is too big.
@hkcho - haha but that makes it SOOO much easier doesn’t it? you can still puree him fruit as dessert no? like applesauce?
@spacegrl - i reheat it before i pack it for school but hell yeah it’s easy.
@spacegrl - oh and i don’t wait 4 days. i wait like 2. i feel like if she has a reaction you would know in a day. don’t u think?
@i_do_may07 - HAHAHAHAHA well i’m glad i made you laugh!
I LOVE my beaba too!!! I also love those RTF 8 oz. bottle of formula where I just attach one of those disposable nipple things on it, he drinks and I toss it! No more lugging bottles and powder formula mix!!!!!!!!!!
@MarkJennBaby - what’s an rtf bottle of formula?
@EggBeater - i just added the info for the baby cubes on the front of my entry.
i love the spoon. it’s a good starter spoon. it’s a color changing spoon by sassy. if the food is 105 deg or over it changes colors. i didn’t pick it because of that and i don’t even use it cause of that. i always stick a clean pinky in her food to test it. and i like it that it’s small and that it curves and it comes with a fork.
if you want the purple and green you can get it here: http://www.diapers.com/Shop/ProductDetail.aspx?ProductID=6405&From=Brand
if you want the pink and yellow you can get it here: http://www.findthebestdeals.com/buy.php/n=Color+Change+Fork+&+Spoon+-+Pink+%5E%5E+Orange/v=baby-Wise.com
what a lucky baby! =)
ok girl, your posts are too funny! i used to love pureeing too. something very soothing about it. but i have to tell ya, i don’t miss it. feeding baby is much easier once they get past that stage.
i’m definitely picking up the beaba babycook for #2. wish they had it around (or if they did i didn’t know about it) when i was pureeing for #1
and seriously….you are an organized freak of nature (i mean that in the nicest way)
@kookaroo - i accept your freak of nature comment and take it as a compliment!
damn, shitz looks tasty. haha.
zoe eats good
Your caption on the 3rd picture had me laughing my ass off. I love it.
oh wow! i’m so impressed! You go, Susan.. you are one AWESOME mama! J
@PetiteMandoo - RTF: “ready to feed” I use these when we are out and about: http://pics.drugstore.com/prodimg/172207/200.jpg it’s like 10 bucks for a pack of 8-8oz bottles but they are worht it for me!
puahahahaha!! the ‘what the eff’ pic is hilaaaarous!! she looks like she’s ready to jump you! betta back off momma!
love your funny captions~
mia’s way past the pureed food stage, but all of a sudden i want to puree! you make it look fun!
i love babycubes too. but have found the set of small sized ones to be annoying now. they don’t hold very much compared to what she eats at a sitting now and the more you have them, the more to clean. i should’ve gotten the big ones from the start.
so yummy!!! i’ve heard about the beaba, and it looks like such a great product!! zoe is definitely eating very well, thanks to mom!
you make pureeing look easy, I wonder if it will be. and how do you know what to mix???
@Mrs_Cho08 - they have tips in the pureeing cook books. like pear goes well with apples or with rice cereal. i mix apples with carrots and she seems to like it. certain combinations go well together. another tip is to look at jarred baby food and see what they’ve mixed.
@PetiteMandoo - muchos gracias!!
do you know if the Beaba is BPA free?
@sunnydeelight12 - if you go to the giggle site it says that it is.
I’m bummed I learned of the Beaba after Sara was already eating solids…oh well, maybe next baby. You should go into business you baby food pureeing freak. Just think, you could take orders from lazy people like me and make tons of money.
@a_perfect_miracle - you would not order it from me! fuck that…i’d make you. BUY IT! BUY IT! BUY EET!
i love zoe’s expressions, she is so cute. my sis is preggers and i wanted to get one for her. thanks for all the advice and product recommendations.
haha, your captions are too funny! Zoe is too cute! I LOVE my beaba also. although since EMmy is pretty allergic to a lot of things, I’m limited as to what i can give her.
I WISH i can give her everything that you’re making for Zoe!
@so_droll80 - omg what is she allergic to?
pretty much a lot of stuff-peas, brussel sprouts, milk, soy, dairy, wheat, eggs…:T
thanks for sharing your review ~ so helpful because nathan will be starting on solids in a week. yay!
your comments on your photos are hilarious, as always. loved zoe’s reaction to the apples. haha.
just want to drop you a note since I’m going through your archives. it’s so entertaining.
@O_miss - aww thanks!
