  • Responsibility Chart

I just ordered this for my niece, Josie, who’s 4 and my nephew, Owen, who’s 3. Apparently Josie is starting to talk back to her mother and Owen has about 6 time outs before he goes to sleep. Hopefully this will motivate them. Hope this works.

  • Cute! I think Zoe and Justin need them too! Hahaha. He talks back now you know

  • I loved those charts in my classroom. There are so many cool ones for weather, counting, day of the week etc ~ my faves were the all about today charts which has everything.  :D

  • i need to get this for my husband :P

  • you know i use the point system with Sammie…yes, her whining and talking back and telling like it is…was getting out of hand..I thought about that chart but i know myself, i wouldn’t be consistent….but so far, the point system works wonders on her…its very similar to the chart..but sorry, i wouldn’t gift her with some of the suggestions that is offered on that chart…lol……hey, whatever, has to work before it gets out of control…………..

  • oh those really work……..i tutor children after school (for free) and use those mini reward charts, at the end of the month if they get all stars they get a prize from me which is a toy trip to Target.

  • what an great idea!

  • At what age can you start disciplining/smacking your kid?  I’m guessing 4 is still too young?  (As you can tell, I don’t have any children of my own, haha!)  Actually, my mom probably hit me at 4, but that’s another generation – 1st gen. Koreans are c.r.a.z.y.

  • that really is a great idea!  kids love structure!

  • remember that good ol korean punishment where you had to kneel with your arms up holding books?  I should make an illustrative book of 100 ways for Korean parents to punish their children.

  • Oooh what a fab idea! I wonder if these are available in the UK?

  • Read this in People mag and Katie Couric’s blog, but apparently the Obama’s play a game called “Roses & Thorns” – everyday at dinner the family each has to share the good thing (rose) and challenging thing (thorn) that happened to them that day. Also, the First Lady also has “downstairs rules” (formal living areas) and “upstairs rules” (the kids own areas). Josie and Owen (and Zoe!) may be a little too young for this now, but I think they’re great ideas.

  • Onestepahead has such great stuff. I wonder if I’ll have to get one of these in the future. (In denial)

  • @sooae - i never knew you used to be a teacher? do you still teach?!

  • @PetiteMandoo -oh hehe. I used to teach kinder and also 4th ~all b4 C of course. For now, I am out of the classroom and at home with C

  • @sooae - do you see yourself going back to teach?

  • @neglected_middle_child - i’m gonna teach zoe to raise her arms when she’s bad. i’m gonna make her hold up the tv.

  • @PetiteMandoo - I REALLY miss the classroom and the kiddos, yet I treasure all the moments that I get to share with C. I guess it is a bit of a trade off I see myself being a SAHM with Chloe at least for the next year as I don’t want to miss a thing!
