Funny Story + Airing It Out
ONE MORE POST FOR TODAY!!!
Ok so I have a funny story to share before
you all go off for your weekend…it’s a good
one.
Yesterday I was wrapping up the bridal shower
gifts I got for my friend Irene. So while I’m busy I
gave Zoe a brand new box of large crayons and
some paper. I sat her at her table and showed
her how to use them (She’s used crayons before
so this was just a refresher course). Then I left her
to draw while I wrapped away. After about 5
minutes I noticed that I no longer heard the sweet
sound of scribbling. So I walked over and this one
was eating away at the red crayon like some sort
of vampire gone crazy and had all these little red
crayon chips all over her lips. So I pulled her off her seat and yelled at her and she proceded to cry. I ignored her and
left her to go back to my wrapping and took ALL the happy crayons with me along with broken red one. She followed
me and proceded to tell me something in her Zoe jibber-jabber as if she was explaining to me that there was a logical
explanation for what she did. I said “Ok. I’ll give you the crayons back but if you eat it you get a meh-meh!” and I
tapped her on the mouth to show her that if that’s where it went then that’s a BEEG NO NO. We walked back to her
table and she went back to scribbling with the overjoyous pink crayon. I went back to my wrapping. After about 30
seconds I no longer heard the happy sing songing of the pink crayon. So I walked over to her (HERE IT COMES) and she
was slowly putting the pink crayon to her mouth (WAIT FOR IT, WAIT FOR IT), saw me in her periph (HERE WE GO), and ….
….kisses it.
************ sigh – sigh – sigh**************Go ahead, laugh. She’s sneaky right? BUT MOMMY’S NOT STUPID! I’M ON TO YOU LITTLE GIRL!!!
I know you were going to eat it so don’t even try!!!!!!!!!!
God I’m in a lot of shit.
Ok so I let her “air it out” as some of you call it but it was a mess. She peed in 6 different spots in about an hour and
a half! I’m tired. The new pull handles for the kitchen came in yesterday. I changed all the handles and I’m finally
done. There were 39! Geeze!
After feeding her, and mopping the floor because of her peeing all over the place like some sort of psycho puppy
marking his territory, and then finally putting her down for her nap I am officially exhausted. I still have to clean her
toys she peed on and the stuffed animals she sat on with her bare coochie. Oh crap and the laundry. And I should
shower. You don’t even wanna know when the last time I took one was.
One day I will paint these bitches white. One day.
I found these awsome knobs after much researching. Everywhere else it was like 5 and up for just ONE! Friggin A! Even
Ikea’s were pricey and I need 39 of them. I found these for $2 and change each. SUHWEET! Susan you’re awsome!
Yeah, I know!

zoe is hysterical! you totally are in for a world of trouble. is she becoming mini susan? maybe you can outsmart her by figuring out what you might do in her situation. yeah, kiss it too?
you are like the energizer bunny.
Haha Zoe’s a clever one! Zoe’s diaper rash, how bad is it/what does it look like? If regular diaper cream with zinc oxide (triple paste, butt paste, desitin, etc.) doesn’t clear it up in a few days, it might be a fungal diaper rash and you can try using Lotrimen AF (yes the stuff for athlete’s foot).
@Chabuki - it’s cause she pooped these 2 little odorless pellets last night so by the time i took her in for a bath it was raw. i’m using balmex so we shall see. hey quick question, where did you get the shades for your house? and are they roman or just regular pull shades?
funny, funny, sneaky girl. hello…she IS your daugther! wow, that’s a lot of working and it really sounds like you’re training a puppy! cool deal on the knobs and replacing them….a mom’s job is never done!
Both of you are hysterical!!! Thanks for a great post, right before the weekend.
LOVE the new knobs!
HAhahahaha!!!! She kissed it… sneaky girl. At least they’re non-toxic.
We have the same handles in our kitchen… got them at the ghetto Ikea in Elizabeth. 3.5% tax and they were a LOT cheaper than the ones in Paramus. The only thing annyoing with them is that when I’m washing dishes, my shorts get caught on the handles underneath the sink. Has that happened to you yet? Or is it just me?
Wow… Z is a sneaky little girl! WOW, and she’s smart too.
I love that she tried to “explain” why she did it. *She’s curious right?” Kitchen looks nice, I’m jealous!!!
kids…
susan you’re awesome.
i heart zoe. i will get stupid skype. i hope you showered.
hahaha…Zoe rocks! And um corn starch can work for a diaper rash. My nephew had horrible diaper rash and the corn starch made his butt alllllllll better!
Her poop would have been a flaming red if she ate that crayon. Kids love to test you. If you tell them not to do something, they do it anyway to see what you would say.
OMG, that is a hilarious story! I can totally picture the crayon moving slowly towards her mouth. LOVE your posts and all the pictures, Zoe is adorable. Sorry, this sounds grandma of me, but can you make your font a little bigger? It’s kind of hard to sneak open the Xanga window and read your posts at work. =P
@petitetokio - i did and it was so refreshing!
love the new handles
and zoe is just too funny
LOL I caught Olivia eating a black crayon. She look like a meth head missing teeth because the black crayon was lodged over a couple of teeth.
I love the handles. They are awesome!!!! Come to think about it, you’re awesome too….biznatch…..
lol…only 15 months and already a sneaky little one! i like your handles and i like your kitchen even more, so nicely laid out
lol…Zoey is sneaky but yet cute and sooo smart……..where does she get that from?….awwww, don’t be too hard, i think crayons are yummy to them…supposedly, it is safe..i’m sure she isn’t the first child to have done that…..the kitchen handles look great……wow!….and great bargain…WRITE A BOOK TO FIND GREAT STUFF FOR GOOD PRICES AND DECOR HOW TO……….i would so buy it………your already potty training? girl, what patience you got with that and then having to clean the mess……..awwww, i hope all goes well….
Where did you order your handles from? I was thinking of putting knobs/handles on our cabinets…
omg that pee story is hilarious. probably not so funny for you doing the clean up.
and yeah, let us know where to get the discount handles!! they look great!
Hey Susan,
Great job on everything! I have been keeping up with your blog with great interest, but it’s hard commenting on the iPhone and my laptop is starting to frizz out. Painting your cabinets will take several weeks (up to 6). It’s a real pain, but less costly than re-facing or replacing.
Thanks for the ScotchBrite mop review! I went in search of it last week at Target but couldn’t find it. I really need something like that too. I still do it old school style – mopping on my hands and knees with a rag. Bleh Also, from Khol’s, I use this little $40 battery powered sweeper picker upper which I also find really handy instead of sweeping. You should definitely pick one up.
Zoe is cuter and cuter. I hope my babies are as cute and pleasant as she is. I show pics of her to the hubbers to soften him up on the idea of a baby. Pretty soon pretty soon.
@March_Bride - http://www.coolknobsandpulls.com
@Miss_Snow_Pea - hahah pretty soon! c’mon already!
why does it take 6 weeks?
omg zoe is too funny. seriously a mini susan! i love the crayon story. why was she peeing around the house? was she rebelling against you? what age do people start potty training anyway?
the handles look awesome! style wise, it’s so much cleaner than the pervious ones. awesome find!
@PetiteMandoo - 6 weeks is what someone on HGTV took and I agree with that from experience. And they had less cabinets than you had. Take stuff out of cabinets. Tape wall. Remove doors, remove hardware, sand existing poly off, sand crevices, clean and wipe down, prime, dry, paint first coat, sand again for smooth appearance, sand crevices too, paint second coat, see how you like it and if u need a 3rd, paint with gloss poly/clean gloss, sand again for smooth appearance, do another coat of poly, dry, oh and put everything back.
Yo, talk to Zoe’s boyfriend over here aight. One minute he’s saying no minute and the next he’s asking me what color baby furniture I’d like. $%^&*((*&^
re: peeing around the house – you can try holding her over a potty at typical times when you would expect her to go (i.e. after waking up from a nap, after a meal, etc.) to catch some of the pees. worth a shot, especially since you are mopping up after her anyways. there’s lots of tips over at diaperfreebaby.org
Your story was hilarious! Little kids are soo smart!
Thanks girl! I’m going to look into it right now!
the new handles now match your stainless appliances!!
@littlemisstomato - i was airing her out cause of her diaper rash.
@PetiteMandoo - The shades on the first floor are roller shades and the ones in the bedrooms are cordless roman shades. I got them at Linens and Things before they went out of business, but I think you can get similar things at BBB.
@Chabuki - thanks tracy!
hahahahahahaha — ooh, your daughter is especially clever.
I love the new handles.
