To Grandmother’s House We Go…
Zoe’s Daily Funny:
Last week we were all sick. We gave Zoe Cherratussin at night so she wouldn’t wake in the middle of the night from coughing. She, however, HATES it!. She sees the syringe coming and she just starts to cry. So I have to pin her arms down while the hubs squeezes it into her open mouth. She’ll stop crying after she eats it and wash the taste away with some milk. I’ll ask her if she’s mad and she’ll say “Yes.” Hahah we don’t care. So C was trying to tell Zoe how she should watch me eat medicine and that I’m a big baby. So I found out at towards the end of the week that I could take Robitussin while I’m pregnant. You should have seen those two. It was as if they were waiting for my perfomance of a lifetime. The hubs would pour my medicine in the measureing cup and then he would sit across from my Indian style while Zoe sat on his lap and they would just sit there with anticipation. I really do hate syrupy medicine though. Nyquil, Robitussin, whatever, you name it. I’ll hate it.
Me: Ok, give me a countdown. Zoe count to 3.
Zoe: Onetwothree!
Me: No that’s too fast!
Hubs: Hahaha Zoe count with me…One….
Zoe: One….
Hubs: Two…
Zoe: Two…
Hubs: Three…
Zoe: Three!
Me: (drinking it and then scrunching up my face as if I bit into a lemon)
Hubs: Hahaha. Zoe look at mommy’s face.
Zoe: Hahaha you big baby mommy!
Hubs: Mommy is a big baby!
They did this two nights in a row. Where they would sit there and point their fat fingers and just make fun of me for like 2 minutes after I would eat my medicine. Jerks.
I think we’re going to the Yo Gabba Gabba Live show this friday! I’m just waiting for everything to be confirmed. I think I’m just as excited as Zoe. I know, I’m sad!
Lately her favorite show has been Umi Zumi on Nick Jr. I think she likes it cause Milly can change her dress pattern into whatever she wants. Zoe’s gotten really girly. Like for 3 weeks straight she only wanted to wear a dress or skirt to school.
If I happen to have on a dress or skirt the same time as her she’ll hold the bottom of her skirt up and say “dress cheers” and we have to tap skirts. She’s really into princesses. I think I’m actually going to write a whole entry on just her princess phase lately. It’s actually amusing. I need to get some of this stuff on video. This morning on our way to school her favorite line was “…for a little while.” This was the conversation she was having with me in her car seat while I drove…
Zoe: Mom! Mom!
Me: Yes?
Zoe: After school I want to watch Yo Gabba Gabba for a little while.
Me: Ok.
Zoe: And then I just want to sit for a little while and then watch Umi Zumi for a little while.
Me: Ok
Zoe: And then for a little while I want to sit here in the car. For a little while.
Me: Ok.
After her ‘for-a-while’ conversation she also started to sing a song that sounded new but I couldn’t hear it clearly and she said “Mom! I singing a song!” So I told her to sing it again so I could hear it.
Zoe: Sunday, Monday. Tuesday, Wednesday. Thursday, Friiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiday, Saturday.
SHE KNOWS HER DAYS OF THE WEEK! She was singing it to the tune of the first line of ‘Clementine’. I was so surprised. I love her going to school!
:: 08.07.10 :: Visiting Halmeh
A few weekends ago we drove down to Philly to stay with my mom for the weekend. She was diagnosed with osteoperosis earlier in the summer and had a little fall so since my sister was going away for the weekend to visit her in laws we decided to come down and hang out with my mama. It was nice though. I don’t get to see her enough. Zoe was a little disappointed that cousins Owen and Kayla weren’t around though. We hit up a playground near my mother’s house. I remember they were building this when I was in highschool. This playground was built in 6 days with 3400 volunteers and so many donors. This has got to be hands down the best playground I have ever been to. It was like the mother of all playgrounds. I’ve driven by it but I’ve just never actually gotten to check it out till now. Well now that I have a child of my own. I think we’re gonna have to come here everytime we go down to visit the relatives now. I wished that I wasn’t prego so that I could’ve run around with Zoe more. There’s even a lot of picnic tables by the entrance of the playground. I would sooooo throw a birthday party here if I lived down there.

Is it the one in Chestnut Hill?
Whoa that really is one kick-ass playground! It’s sad that you don’t see playgrounds like that much anymore — I hate those ugly plastic ones that seem to be the norm these days.
Is your family from the southern part of Korea? I’m asking because I used to call my grandmother “halmeh” too, and attributed it to my kyungsando satooli (my family is from Taegu). I think when my baby’s born she’ll probably call my mom that too.
@AugustBliss - no it’s in north wales
@GeekInHeels - hahahaha my mom’s family is from pusan. some people say that when i speak korean i do have a little sahtoorri. others say no…”you just sound like a white person trying to speak korean.” hahaha i don’t know anyone else that uses that! dude i love you. i want zoe to call her halmeh and my mother in law halmohni. all my nieces and nephews call my mom halmeh.
what a great playground!
wow it looks like you had such an awesome time. That playground is WOW. I 2nd that they don’t make many playgrounds like that anymore. When I was little (my dad is half korean) we used to call my dad’s aunt Halmeh and she was from Pusan as well. I don’t know it may be a area thing but I love it. Unfortunately Sae doesn’t have any Korean grandparents (minus my dad) so we don’t have to use this with her but I wish we could.
whoa… .crazy playground… i need to check that out one day with ummm my kid.. yeah thats it..
wow. her dirty look has really perfected. i would love to teach my future kid that. but then does it make you angry or does it make you laugh when she does it?
i hate syrupy medicines too. M was all excited to take some medicine the other day because of a runny nose and i told her even though it’s bubblegum flavor it still ain’t gonna be good. i was right.
what a great playground! there’s one a half hour away from us that is pretty nice, but smaller than that one.
love that last pic. Z is so pretty.
@Soapie - hahaha it never makes me angry. i always laugh at her. soemtimes she gives me a dirty look when i try to talk to her about something random like her day in school and i’m always like “UM EXCUSE ME! EXCUSE ME!” and she just cracks up.
awwwww so cute! just think she will only be this cute and small for a “little while”…sigh..
is that just a regular neighborhood park? It’s an amazing park! the pictures of your mom and z are so precious
the last picture is heart-melting~!
@audreysmommie - yeah! it’s just a neighborhood park! so nice right?! next time i’ll video tape it. the pictures don’t really do it much justice.
@bellabella - man we forgot to call! we call tonight!
