  • The Library

    Zoe’s Daily Funny:
When we were at the library this week Zoe found a Dora book and plopped down on a chair to read it. After rummaging through one of the shelves I found a Strawberry Shortcake book I though she might like.

Me: Zoe! I found a Strawberry Shortcake book!

She looks up from her book looking slightly annoyed at my interuption and goes…

Zoe: Mommy, I’m conshentrating. Don’t bother me.

Pishaw! Concentrating my ass. Try to be nice to someone….jeeze. I WAS TRYING TO DO YOU A FAVOR BUT YOU CAN FOHGITABOUDIT!

Have I mentioned that I love the library? If I could do 2 things in my life one would be to write children’s books and the second would be to open a children’s library. I love children’s books. If Zoe could have her way she’d ONLY sign out princess books. So when we go I make she gets a good mix. I told her we won’t buy her anymore princess books so I’m fine if she wants to borrow them from the library. I do tell her that there are lots of great books out there that have NOTHING to do with princesses.

    Borrowed Books from last week:
    The Little Mermaid
Everyone Knows What A Dragon Looks Like (mine)
    Falling For Rapunzel (mine)
    Grover Sleeps Over (mine)
    Dora’s Easter Basket

She actually kept Falling for Rapunzel for another week. She thinks it’s funny. And she actually really enjoyed Grover Sleeps Over and asked me to read it a couple of times and then invited our friend Hans over for a sleep over. He politely declined. He’s 34 and has his own apartment thank you very much. I was actually interested in purchasing Everyone Knows What A Dragon Looks Like. The illustrations are beautiful. Of course, it’s Mercer Mayer. I think I may still buy it.

    Borrowed this week:
Princess Tiana and the Royal Ball
    Cinderella III
Ladybug Girl at the Beach (mine)
    Royal Champions
How Much Is A Million? (mine)

I picked How Much Is A Million?. Zoe was bored. So was I. I picked it based solely on the illustrations. Wednesday night she made me read her one of her Tinkerbell books and begged for a 2nd book before we went to bed. So I picked Ladybug Girl At The Beach. She started whining and complaining because she wanted to read one the princess books she had picked at the library. I said no and that If she wanted a 2nd book it would have to be MY pick. So I read it to her and GUESS WHO LOVED IT?!? Whiner.  In the morning she was BEGGING me to read it to her. BEGGING! She now wants to read the entire series and she made me read it to her twice yesterday. Who’s your mama!?

Here’s a little trivia for you. Arnold Lobel is like only my favorite illustrator. Well him and Mercer Mayer. Anyways he passed away in the 80′s and most of his books are out of print. BUT did you know his daughter married the guy who played Larry in Perfect Strangers? He was Balki Bartokomous’ cousin. Remember?! Word to your motha.
