  • Audrey & Taylor’s Birthday Party

    Zoe’s Daily Funny:
So yesterday Zoe was sitting at the dining room table and I brought over a bowl of udon noodles and fish cake for her to eat for dinner. I said…

Me: Zoe don’t eat it yet. It’s really hot. You see all the smoke (steam)?
Zoe: Can you put in a ice?
    Me: Ok hold on…

So I walk over to the fridge to get a cube. I turn around and she is like so fascinated by the steam and is looking up to see where it goes…

Zoe: Mommy look! The smoke is disappearding. It goes up and then it just disappeards! Look, look, look.
    Me: It’s what?
Zoe: It’s disappearding. *sigh* Disappearding means it’s disappearding. That means it’s going gone.
Me: Oh I didn’t know that.

Yesterday Zoe and I walked to the library to return a book while the hubs stayed home to put Kayden down. On the way home we picked up some ice cream to share with daddy. It was a good night. Zoe was on her best behavior. We talked during our entire walk about the moon and why it follows us everywhere, about the planes in the sky, about how there’s so many people who are walking on the street that we don’t know and just how could we possibly know them all? “There’s too many” she said. We basically talked about life through the eyes of a 3 year old. She has so many questions. We also ran into Ji Won and Andrew and Zoe talked up a storm with Ji Won. It was SOOOO great seeing you again!

    {06.25.11} Audrey & Taylor’s Birthday Party
We had the pleasure of being invited to the sister’s shindig at Little Gym. Zoe had fun and had a few friends that she already knew there. I took a photo of Audrey and Taylor staring at the lighted candles in the dark but it came out creepy looking so I didn’t post. I can’t believe these were all I took. Many when you have 2 kids you start to slack in the photo department.

  • The Ice Cream Truck

    Zoe’s Daily Funny:
After I picked the kids up yesterday, I gave them a bath and put Kayden down for a nap. Then Zoe and I went down to the family room to hang out. I was on the computer sending my brother -in-law some of the wedding photos I took on their wedding day. All the while Zoe’s sticking princess stickers on my right arm. She goes…

Zoe: I’m giving you a sticker because you did a good job picking me up today.
    Me: Thank you.

Then she stuck 3 more on and ruined the moment by saying….

Zoe: You’ll get whatever I give you.

Girl. Was I complaining? You’re such an attitude.

    {07.15.11} Ice Cream Truck
I have so many ice cream truck stories. I remember playing outside our front yard with my sisters and maybe some of the neighborhood kids and we’d hear the ice cream truck music like a block or 2 away and we’d all pause to hear and then scatter to our houses to get money. My mom always said no. We had to beg my dad but he definitely would cave in at times and whip out his wallet. I’d get mad if my mom said no and all of a sudden all the kids we were just playing with are all lining up at the stupid truck while my sisters and I just sat and watched them with jealousy. My 2 youngest sisters would be in the house and they’d hear the ice cream truck and yell for him to stop and then duck behind our screen door. Assholes. My husband hates Mister Softee. He used to work the evening shift at Bloomberg when he used to live in New Brunswick. There was always a Mister Softee truck that would just come and park for HOURS in the early evening right outside his building and that music would just constantly play while he’s trying to sleep. It would be like 10pm and that damn truck would still be there. The one in the photo belong comes around a few times a week and this just happened to be the time where Zoe had already had her supper.

  • Kayden at 9 Months

    Zoe’s Daily Funny:
So Zoe’s thing lately is to go up to random seniors and ask them if they’re old. EMBARRASSING (
sung in my opera voice)!!! Let me give you a scenario…

We were at the grocery store. Zoe and I had to use the bathroom so we’re waiting our turn outside the ladies room. We hear the toilet flush inside and this old lady comes out. Zoe goes…

Zoe: I was scared of you?
    Old Lady: Of me?
    Zoe: Yeah
    Old Lady: Why?
Me: Because you flushed the toilet and she hates that sound.
Old Lady: Oh why, I’m sorry.
    Zoe: Are you old?
Me: *sigh* Zoe! (through clenched teeth)
Old Lady: Oh what dear? Did she just ask me if I was old.
    Me: Umm…no.
    Zoe: Are you old?
Old Lady: (laughing) Yes I am old.
Me: BUT SHE’S YOUNG AT HEART! (giving Zoe my dirtiest look) I’m sorry.
Old Lady: (still laughing) Oh don’t be. She made me laugh.

Omigod Zoe! Like ZIP IT UP!

This past weekend we had a playdate with Lila. Before they came over Zoe and Lila were talking on the phone and Lila’s on speaker…

Zoe: Lila are you coming over?
    Lila: …….
Zoe: Are you coming over now?
    Lila: ……..
    Zoe: Lila are you coming?
    Lila: ………
Zoe: Lila, put your mother on the phone.

Today we go out to the car and it’s gray outside and drizzling. I’m putting Zoe’s backpack in while she’s standing next to me looking at the sky and I hear her go…

Zoe: Today’s going to be a horrible day.

You guys are really sweet. Thanks for everyone’s encouraging words. I know I’ll get through it. It’s just like emotionally weird. I’ve never ever gone through this before. I think I’m usually a happy-go-lucky person. However lately for the past few months I’ve been really cynical….bitter…frustrated…easily annoyed…basically someone you just don’t want to be around. Just super moody. Honestly though, these past few days I’ve been feeling a lotbetter. The hubs took me on a dinner date Saturday night. We invited our friends Jin and Angie to double date with us and made reservations at Cucharamama. It’s a Peruvian restaurant in Hoboken. Sooo good. Zoe went to play with her cousins and we dropped Kayden off at our friends, Irene and Dave’s house. Before getting there the hubs goes “You need this hun. It’ll be good for you to have nice adult conversation with no distractions.” I’m thinking “I do not need adult conversation!” But honestly? I SOOOOO DID! It was such a great date. Good company, good food, good conversation. It’s so easy to get lost amongst the dirty diapers, juice boxes, and time outs. I really felt like I lost myself. I feel like with my husband I lost “us”. I remember after I had Zoe and I was just embracing being a mother I remember thinking “I was BORN to do this! I was born to be a mother.” Now I’m like “This is all I am. Just a mother. That’s all I am.” Hahaha…. I do see a light at the end of the tunnel though. Thanks hun! I really needed that date. Big HUGS homie!

    Kayden, Kayden, sweet little fatty….
Kayden’s 2nd tooth has broken through. He can sit up on his own. He can wink (so cute). He can crawl. He can wave bye. Sometimes if Zoe is taking a crap, Kayden will stand in his walker right in the doorway and just wait for her while inhaling her toxic poop fumes. That’s love man. I would also say that Kayden reaches for both me and C equally. Sometimes he looks at me like “Oh. You again.” And when he sees his dad he just like lights up. He loves being tossed in the air. Oh and he’s starting to stand while holding onto stuff. He’s growing up so fast. We just took him for a haircut on Saturday and he H A T E D it. The hubs calls his look dumb and dumber. So mean. He looks like a different baby with the haircut.

A few days ago he was just so moody and was constantly itching his eyes like he was sooo frustrated at them. Plus he got another eczema flare up. So I’m thinking allergies right? So I found this article on Babycenter.com

How can I tell if my baby has nasal allergies or just a cold?
Because the symptoms of nasal allergies are much like cold symptoms — runny nose, watery eyes, cough, nasal congestion, sneezing — it can be tough to tell the difference. There are some telltale signs of allergies, though.
    Ask yourself the following questions:

·Does it seem like your baby always has a cold? Colds usually wind down in a week to ten days; allergies don’t. UM YES!
Is your baby’s nose continually stuffy or running?
    HELLO?! YES!
Is she constantly wiggling, wiping, or pushing her nose up in what doctors call the allergic salute?
Is the mucus that drains from her nose clear and thin (as opposed to yellow or greenish and thick)?
    Sometimes.
Does she seem to sneeze a lot?
Are her eyes itchy, red, and watery?
    YES!
Does the skin under her eyes look dark or purple or blue — what doctors call allergic shiners?
    YES!
Does she breathe through her mouth?
    Sometimes!
Does she have a dry cough?
Is her skin irritated or broken out in an itchy red rash?
    YES

If you answered yes to one or more of these questions, there’s a good chance your baby is allergic to something in her environment. Kids with nasal allergies are also more prone to ear infections, asthma, and sinus infections.

So this week he’s only on formula and squash for solids till I can start weeding out what’s causing the itcy eyes and the eczema.

  • Pony Rides and My Sickies

    Zoe’s Daily Funny:
Oh Lord. Where do I begin? There were so many funny things Zoe said or did this weekend.

    |1| Last night we went to Target. Zoe wanted to pick out a pair of princess pj’s while we were there. They didn’t have her size and the ones they had were pretty crappy. I told her to wait till we got home and that I’d order her one on the computer. So bed time comes along and she’s drinking her milk and I grab the ipad and go to the Disney Store website but it’s taking forever and a day to load. So outloud I just say….

Me: God! Why is it taking so long! *sigh*
Zoe: (patting me on my shoulder) It’s ok. Your best is all that you can do. *sipping on her bottle*
    Me: What?
Zoe: (patting me some more) It’s ok mommy. I know you can do it.

    |2| I decided that I needed to finally go bra shopping after like10 years. I know. I’m sad. My bra’s like so stretched out it’s like the next size up AND I wore it while I was prego too. They are stretched. So we go into Victoria’s Secret and I pick 2 to take with me into the dressing room. Zoe comes with me and while I’m trying one on she’s trying on the other. After I leave the dressing room I turn around and she’s walked out with the bra on. She’s just smiling and walking and asking me if I can buy her one when she’s all grown up atthe sweet age of 10.

    |3| Sunday morning Zoe and I are on the computer playing games on Nick Jr and out of the blue she turns to me, pats my right boob and goes…

    Zoe: I like your boobie.
    Me: Ok thanks.
    Zoe: It’s really colorful.
    Me: Ok. No touchie.

Congratulations to my beautiful cousin Julia and her fiance Nick on getting married this weekend. I missed it and all my relatives. *sigh* However my sick kids are more important.

So Kayden is still sick. His coughing is no longer bark-like but the cough is still there and he has a little bit of a runny nose. Zoe on the other hand is sick. She got whatever Kayden had. She’s had fevers on and off since Thursday morning. It seems like her coughing and her vocals are worse at night. I woke up Sunday morning cause I heard her breathing…she had stridor. I could hear every breath she took. In and out. Her voice has also been a little hoarse during the day as well. Her coughing hasn’t been too bad but when she does cough it doesn’t sound as bad as Kayden’s did but it does sound like an echoing cough (that’s the best way I can describe it). When I went in last week to the pediatrician’s he goes “Susan, do you know you’ve been here 5 times in the past month?!” Werd? Oh wells. I have sick kids, I freak out, I just want to make sure they’re not dying! Sue me. I can not the helping!

I don’t remember writing this but Kayden’s tooth finally came out to say hello! It was like 2 weeks ago. Tooth #2 is not too far behind but it hasn’t cut through yet. Kayden also learned to wave “bye-bye”. It’s really cute. Kayden’s just so cute. I put a barette in his hair since it’s was so long and I was like “this boy is so cute he really could pass as a cute pudgy girl too!” He’s due for his 9 month appt this Saturday. He’s also crawling. He likes to remix things so he’ll crawl and then he’ll drop his body and do the army crawl. He’s actually pretty fast. He’s eating now. I used to puree all of Zoe’s stuff and now I feel like I barely have time to puree Kayden’s. Man I need to get with it! I feel like I’m cheating him. I just feel so much more inadequate with 2. Do you feel like that? I’m like tired all the time, and since ihave that stupid herniated disc I feel so crippled at times. I feel like I’m not giving the 100% I want to give to my kids. It makes me feel shitty. I also told the hubs I’m going through some post partum shit. I don’t know what it is. I hope I break out of this funk. I hate how it makes me feel.

{07.09.11} This was right outside the Van Saun Park Zoo in Paramus. You know I still haven’t gone to that zoo yet?! Right after this pony ride we parked in the zoo parking lot and Zoe had passed out. So we just drove back home. Hahaha. One day! I will go! Wait for me animals!

I think the guy is trying to block her out but he has to hold her onto her with one hand so I’m sure his other hand that’s covering his ear is not doing any good. Boy, you can’t block her out. Trust me. I tried.

  • Our Fight | Flower Girl

    Zoe’s Daily Funny:
So when it comes to hugs or “i love you’s” Zoe is really possesive over her father. Like GOD FORBID he hug me or kiss me. *rolling my eyes* So saturday night he comes into Zoe’s room to kiss her good night and then kisses me good night (but he has to kiss me fast otherwise Zoe will stop him). So as he’s leaving the room I yell out…

    Me: Good night Hun!
Zoe: (trying to outdo me) GOOD NIGHT HUN!
    C: Good night.
    Me: I love you.
    Zoe: I LOVE YOU!
C: (as he’s closing the door) I love you too.

Zoe turns to me and goes…

Zoe: Ahbah didn’t say I love you or good night to you because he doesn’t love you that much.

     Beach….es are nice.

I know I always write about the sweet things that Zoe says or does but trust me, she’s no saint. Zoe and I had the biggest fight 2 weeks ago. Like I was going to beat her ass! I picked her and Kayden up from school and once I had them buckled in I told her that I had gotten her a Barbie movie (her latest thing). HOWEVER, I told her she could watch it after we went home, took a bath first, and then I’d play it for her during dinner. Well when we got home I took Kayden upstairs with me to run the bath. I come down and tell her to come upstairs. She ignored me. I give her till the count of 3. Still no budging. OH. HELLLLLS to the NO. This does not fly for me. I go over yell at her and she screaming back in my face telling me “DON’T COUNT!” I hit her in the butt and she still doesn’t budge and is just crying. Then I drag her sorry ass, while holding Kayden mind you, who’s looking at us like we’re both crazy. I put them both in the bath and the entire time she’s just sulking, and whining, and crying, and telling me she’s not going to talk to me anymore, and that she’s mad at me. Puh leeze! So it was like the same friggin’ conversation over and over and over the whole time I’m washing Kayden down….

Me: Don’t ask me to watch the movie today. You lost your chance. I TOLD YOU that if you listened you could watch the movie. Today you are not being a good girl.
Zoe: I’m a GOOD girl! I wanna watch it.
    Me: Too bad.
    Zoe: I’m sorry I didn’t listen.
    Me: (ignoring)
    Zoe: Mommy I’m sorry I didn’t listen.
Me: Ok that’s fine. You still can’t watch it.
Zoe: WHY! Fine! I’m not going to talk to you anymore!
Me: Fine by me. I’m only talking to Daddy and Kayden today.
    Zoe: TALK TO ME!
    Me: (ignoring)
Zoe: You’re breaking my heart mommy.
    Me: You already broke mine.
    Zoe: Mommy I’m sorry I didn’t listen.
Me: Zoe that’s fine but you still can’t watch the movie. If you’re good tomorrow maybe you can watch it then. Today no way.
Zoe: Fine! I’m mad at you!
Me: That’s fine cause I’m mad at you. If you ask me one more time about the movie it will go in the trash.
Zoe: FINE! I’M NEVER TALKING TO YOU AGAIN!
    Me: Please don’t.

Like friggin’ shoot me someone! I felt like her pms and teenager years were kicking in 10 years sooner than planned. Why am I being punished? Why?

{12.12.11} Patty & Danny’s Wedding (I’m sorry I totally forgot to post this. In my defense I just had a baby a month before)
Zoe was asked to be the flower girl at Patty and Danny’s wedding. She insisted that she wear her hair down and curly. We practiced walking and throwing socks out of her flower basket for 2 months. She was totally ready. Right before it was her turn to walk she didn’t want to do it anymore. I whipped out a bag of Skittles and told her it was all hers if she walked. That little girl turned to walk down the aisle and worked it like a pro. We were so proud of her! Kayden also came with us to the wedding. My sister in law bailed on the babysitting because her whole family came down with a cold.

There’s also a photo of her on the Cly Creations blog.

  • Halmeh’s House

    Zoe’s Daily Funny:
So because Zoe likes the Pinkalicious and Ladybug Girl series I thought she might like the Fancy Nancy books. So the last time we were at the library I found 2 and signed them out. I read them to her later in the week. When it was time to return the books we were walking to the library and she turns to me and says…

    Zoe: Mommy?
    Me: Yeah?
Zoe: Please no more Fancy Nancy books. Please!

Hahaha. I’m surprised she doesn’t like them because Fancy Nancy is really girly.

Kayden is still sick. He cries when he coughs. Poor thing. I’m home again!

I went down to Philly a few weekends ago, just myself and the kids. I decided to leave Friday night right when Kayden fell asleep cause then he could sleep ALLLLLLLLLL the way down and I just had to deal with the other one. So I bought Zoe a new move for the trip and it arrived just in time. I got her Atlantis. I never saw this either but when I asked Zoe her synopsis after the movie ended she said “First she wasn’t Kida. She was just a girl and then the girl turned into a mermaid in the water and then later at the end she turned into Kida.” I haven’t seen the movie but I’m PRETTY SURE there’s no mermaids and the movie was just over an hour and a half long and that was ALL she got from it? I need to watch it by myself. Girl your version sucks. Hahaha… By exit 15 (which was like 15 minutes into the drive) I was getting really tired. In my mind I was like “Ohcrapohcrapohcrapohcrap…” I had like an hour and a half more to go. By exit 9 I got my 2nd wind and tried to hurry home. Kayden slept the ENTIRE way and Zoe was so engrossed in the movie the entire trip that she barely said a word to me on the entire drive down. I have not been home (as in my mother’s house) since before I even had Kayden. So it’s been a while. It was just nice to get away even if it was just for the weekend. I told my mom that I was coming with the kids….she said….

    Mom: What about C?
Me: No I need a break from the full bloods.
    Mom: (laughing) Then who’s coming?
Me: Just me and my little half bloods.

On saturday night while I was at my mother’s I put Kayden in a basin in the tub to wash him and I climbed into the tub just to get a better grip while washing him down. Zoe who was also just hanging out in the bathroom with us, pulls up a step stool next to the tub and sits down while holding Pink as if Kayden and I were her form of entertainment. While I washing his back I noticed he had a little rash above his butt on his waistline. Probably from the heat. I said…

Me: Aww Zoe look. Kayden has a little rash on his back.
Zoe: OH MY GOODNESS IS HE OK?! I’M SO WORRIED ABOUT HIM! ARE YOU WORRIED ABOUT HIM?!
    Me: Um. No.
Zoe: OH MY GOODNESS IT’S BREAKING MY HEART! IS IT BREAKING YOURS?
Me: Um. No. Zoe, It’s just a little rash.
Zoe: IT’S OK KAYDEN! NOONA’S HERE!

Oh and Sunday morning my mom asked me what I wanted to feed Zoe. So I asked Zoe who was examining something and I asked her..

Me: Zoe, Halmeh wants to know what you want to eat
Zoe: *sigh* She’s such an attitude.
    Me: What?
    Zoe: She’s such an attitude.
Me: Listen, you don’t even know how to use it. What’s an attitude?
    Zoe: *shrugs* I don’t know.
Me: See! You don’t even know. What do you want to eat?
    Zoe: YOU don’t even know.
Me: Zoe omigod! What do you want to eat!
    Zoe: Eggs over easy.

While we were there we also went to the playground that we went to last time (that was also the last time I went home). There were these 2 little boys that were playing together and Zoe took it upon herself to boss them around. “Hey guys follow me!” “Hey boys look at this!” “Hey boys! Hey boys! Come over here.” You could tell they were trying to get away from her. Hahaha. I was like “RUNNNNNNN! I’ll hold her back!”

Saturday night we also went to the mall to buy a toy for Zoe since we didn’t bring any toys down for her. She picked Prince Philip and Aurora to complete her collection. I ran into some oppas and unnies I grew up with at the mall and we were trying to converse but none of us could get a word in because Miss Zoe kept interupting.

    “Hey I’m Zoe! I’m Zoe!”
“I’m 3 and on my next birthday I’m turning 4!”
“This is my baby brother! Hey Hey you guys, this is my baby brother!”
“His name is Kayden. Say “hi” to my baby brother.”
    “I’m his big sister!”
“Hey I’m gonna get a new toy!”
    “What you guys doing here?”

I was like omigodshudduppppppppppppppppppppp! Hahahaha! My mom was like cracking up and so was everyone else.

We took Prince Philip home and she goes…

Zoe: Hey mommy! Look at how far I can stretch him.

I see her making him do a split that he wasn’t SUPPOSED to do and I heard a snap. That toy lasted an hour. Prince Philip didn’t have a prayer in the world that could save him.

  • Croup & Night Time Potty Training

    Zoe’s Daily Funny:
Zoe and I were eating breakfast together while watching Rapunzel for the 5,489th time yesterday morning while Kayden and the hubs were taking a nap.

Me: Do you think Rapunzel is pretty?
    Zoe: Mmmhmm. Do you mommy?
    Me: Mmmhmm. She’s pretty.
Zoe: How about the king and queen?
Me: I think the king is handsome and the queen is pretty.
    Zoe: (chuckling) How about Flynn?
    Me: Oh he’s handsome.
Zoe: (chuckling) How about daddy and Kayden?
    Me: Oh they’re REALLY handsome.
Zoe: (laughing) Do you think they’re more handsomer?
    Me: The handsomest!
Zoe: (smiling into her bowl of eggs) Me too. I love them.

Hahaha she’s so cute at times.

I am home YET again. This is a new illness for me. Kayden has croup. Any advice on dealing with this one? It started yesterday morning. He woke up, had his morning bottle and then threw it ALL up all over our bed. *sigh* Then I noticed his fever. It was a little over 100. We gave him fever reducers throughout the day. At night we gave him ibuprofen right before he went to bed around 9ish. At around almost 1 I checked in on him. The hubs took his temp and it was around 102. We gave him some acetaminophen but then I noticed his cough. It was almost like a bark. Like a seal-like bark. I took him to the doctors and he said Kayden had croup. I remember reading about it when Zoe was younger. He prescribed Prednisolone and said the cough will probably get worse before it gets better and that it should probably last 3-4 days. BOO! So draining when your kids get sick. I couldn’t even sleep last night.

I was also all ready to write about how Zoe is FULLY POTTY TRAINED! However she peed on her bed last night. DOH! So friday night we get into bed and she goes “Mommy I still have my panties on!” I said “Zoe do you want to try sleeping in them? Do you think you can do it?” She looked unsure but said she wanted to try. The next morning she walks into our bedroom all proud and groggy lookin’ and goes “Look! Touch my panties! Touch them!” and she tries to jut  her crotch out. Haha so I touch her panties and they’re dry and I make a big deal about it and even reward her with 2 pieces of candy. After she ate her breakfast she comes up to me at the sink and goes “Mommy, thank you for letting me try sleeping in the bed with panties on. Thank you.” So sweet right? Sunday night she wants to try again. The next morning-DRY! I reward her with another piece of candy and she wants to know why she’s only getting 1 piece this time. I can’t reward her with 2 pieces every single time! No negotiation Miss Thang! Last night when I woke to check on Kayden I touched Zoe’s panties and they were wet. I changed her, the hubs moved her to our bed, and I stripped her sheets off. I felt a little bit of sadness because I knew she was going to be disappointed in the morning.

I also want to give props to the hubs. This morning I came downstairs and he did all the dishes and washed all of the bottles while I was sleeping. And I DIDN’T EVEN ASK! Thanks hun. I love you. It’s the little things like this that make me love you.

It was “Show Week” at the Little Gym where the kids put on a final performance for the parents. Zoe didn’t “show” us anything. Hahaha. She wasn’t even paying attention.

  • Update on His Majesty

    Zoe’s Daily Funny:
As we left for our Canada trip earlier this month, we dropped off Flotsam & Jetsam with a sitter. The next morning she texted that Flotsam had jumped out of the fish bowl and commited suicide. So when we got back almost a week later I explained to Zoe that we now had 1 fish and that Jetsam was probably sad that his bff Flotsam died. So the next morning I let her feed him and she drags the bowl over to her chest to hug it and I hear her talking to him in a whisper…

Zoe: It’s ok Jetsam. Oh my goodness! Are you crying? Don’t cry. I will take care of you. There’s nothing to cry about. You’ll be alright. There there, shhhhhh. (all while caressing the bowl)

Poor Jetsam. He does look lonely though. I’m thinking about buying him a friend.
    Rest in Peace Flotsam | 10.17.10 – 07.02.11

Kayden’s had a runny nose since last friday morning. By monday morning he had a nasty cough. I hate taking the kids to the dr’s when it’s just a cold. I pay $20 bucks each time for the dr to say “you just have to wait it out.” However there was one time that Zoe had a cold when she was younger and she got this cough and it was bugging me so I took her in and the doctor did hear some fluid in her lungs so she had to be put on medication. So after I heard Kayden’s cough I made an appt and the doctor said that he could hear a crackling sound in his left lung and told me So he told me he didn’t want to take an chances and had me put him on amoxicillin for a week. He’s coughing still but it does sound a lot less phlegmy today and he actually likes eating it.

I should also not that Kayden is a mama’s boy. He can’t crawl yet. (I think soon though) but he will try to do an army crawl if that means the goal is to touch my feet and get my attention. He’s really cute. He can say ahbah (daddy) and umma (mommy) but I’m not sure if he knows that that is who we are. His thighs are massively juicy. I don’t know how much he weighs now but he’s gotten heavier for sure over the past month. He was a little bit over 17lbs at his 6 month appt. We’ll see how much fatboy weighs at his 9 month.

Oh and also I want to mention that Kayden can hold his own bottle but he’s so funny. He doesn’t want to hold it. So I do this thing when it’s feeding time where I lay him down, and hold the bottle over his mouth. He opens his mouth and waits for me to put it in. I don’t. He looks at me and we make eye contact. He purposely won’t reach for the bottle even though he’s hungry because he wants me to hold it. So he starts to make this whiney noise all the while flailing his arms around the side of the bottle being careful NOT to touch it while trying to give me “the hint”. Haha… If I make him hold it, the SECOND he sees me put my hand on the bottle he drops his hands cause he’s like “That’s right. Serve me bitch. You know who I am.” HIGH MAINTENANCE (sung in my opera voice)!

  • The Great Escape & Lake George Mini Family Vacation

    Zoe’s Daily Funny:
My sister and her new hubby, Matthew were over this weekend. I overheard my sister Hannah talking with Zoe about who’s pretty. The tail end of the conversation that I heard was…

    Hannah: Am I pretty?
Zoe: No. You’re not pretty because you don’t have on any nail polish.
    Hannah: I am too pretty.
Zoe: No. You don’t have nail polish!

But guess who did? You don’t make the Law Book of the Pretty!

I am home today because Mr Fatty came home from school yesterday with a bump on his foot, his one hand, and his fat wrist. They look like bug bites but he had his shoes and socks on all day so that wouldn’t explain the bump on his foot. I took the kids to school this morning and I showed the director. She thinks it might be chicken pox. I called the dr. Told him about it and he doesn’t think it’s that. He thinks maybe the coxsackie virus. Zoe had that virus before and it doesn’t look like it to me. He’s in good spirits, he’s eating, and sleeping fine, no fever… So today I just watch him to be sure. Keepin’ my fingers crossed!

    { 07.06.11 } 6 Flags: The Great Escape
On our trip home from Canada we had planned to stay here for 2 nights. They had a Johnny Rockets right inside the hotel, and indoor water park, and an outdoor amusement park. There was this one ride that Zoe and I rode where it looks like a classic car. There was a point where they stopped the ride and Zoe and I are just sitting in the car and she’s asking me what happened. After about 5 minutes we see this tall girl going up to all the cars to give them an update. She starts walking towards us and Zoe goes “Maybe that young lady over there can tell us what happened mommy.” Young lady? Uh ok.

Funny story about the first night we checked in…
Zoe and her dad decided to check out the indoor water park. It was like early evening. They came back to the hotel room about an hour later and they’re both wet and all I hear from Zoe is…

Zoe: Ahbah you DROPPED me! You DROPPED me!

Apparently he dropped her in the water. Hahaha…He lost her trust that night.

  • The Wedding of Mannah

    Zoe’s Daily Funny:
Zoe loves mermaids. I remember being fascinated by them too at a young age. I mean people who are half fish living in the water? Totally interesting, hello? So recently I had just got done reading her a bedtime story and had just shut off the light. We kissed each other good night in the dark and I closed me eyes….for 10 seconds when I hear her talking to me in a soft voice…

Zoe: What are you dreaming about?
Me: Nothing. I’m not even asleep yet.
Zoe: Mommy, what are you dreaming about?
Me: I’m dreaming about going to sleep.
Zoe: Are you dreaming about mermaids?
    Me: No.
Zoe: Mommy, are you dreaming about mermaids?
    Me: Yes.
    Zoe: Me too.

I love how she controls the conversation and also controls my responses.

    { 07.02-05.11 } Mannah
The weekend of July 4th we drove 10 hours to Perth, Ontario (with 2 kids it felt like 20). My sister flew in from Vietnam with her fiance, Matthew to get married in Canada. On our side it was just our immediate family plus 2 of my aunts. On Matthew’s it was his immediate family, his aunt, uncle, and some cousins, and a whole bunch of friends. It was a really cute and personal ceremony. Matthews family had rented this huge lodge-like compound for everyone to stay at.

The day of the wedding fell on Sunday. The kids woke up, had breakfast and all went to play in the kiddie pool with water guns. There was a lot of laughing, and tattle telling, and fighting, and crying amongst them. Ellis was left out a lot because Zoe and Josie just wanted to play with the girls and Owen just kept bullying him but I also think it’s cause Ellis was annoying him as well. Hahaha…Poor Ellis. So he came in and we got him to color as he sat next to me. By early afternoon everyone started to get dressed for the wedding. They had the ceremony on the dock by the lake. The wedding march was played on kazoos by all the nieces and nephews (Zoe included) along with my youngest sister, her boyfriend, and Matthew’s younger brother and his wife. The bride and groom made the entrance to their ceremony on a canoe. It was really cute. I especially loved the wedding march. Zoe still sings the song now. Lucky me. The bride and groom looked awesome in the custom made (in Vietnam) attire. Nancy(youngest sister) had made Hannah her veil and my aunt had put together Hannah’s bouquet. Nancy even made the “Just Married” banner you see in the background of some of the photos out of newspapers. The ceremony was short and sweet. It rained for a bit at the beginning of the wedding but it was literally for about 10 minutes or so. After the ceremony we had hors d’ouves and drinks. Mannah gave their thank you shout-outs. There was a little pavlova (New Zealand dessert) cutting contest between the new Mr and Mrs. And the celebration went well into the night. My side of the family checked out early cause of the kids.

On Monday Zoe refused to wake up. When I got her to talk she kept saying she was tired. She didn’t even want to play with her cousins! She loves her cousins. She couldn’t wait to see them and now she just didn’t have the energy to even play with them. I thought it was a little unusual but my mom and aunts were saying she was probably just exhausted from playing so much with her cousins all day the day before. So I let her sleep. By 11 I tried to wake her to see if she would eat. The way she talked was as if she was too tired to talk but she told me “eggs over easy and bread”. So I make it. I’m back in 15 minutes and she is out again. Like she fell back asleep standing up with her feet on the floor, butt in the air, and the upper half of her body laying on the bottom bunk. So I let her sleep. By 2 I wake her again and tell her to eat. So she tells me she wants “eggs over easy and bread”. So I go make it again. I come back and she fell asleep again. I make her wake up and she eats a bit and then wants to go back to sleep. I go to put the dishes away in the kitchen and my aunt comes to tell me that Zoe threw up. That’s when I knew something wasn’t right. Ziggy mentioned that it could be heat exhaustion so we looked it up and she had all the symptoms. They said to take the child to the ER. So we left Kayden with my family and headed to the local hospital. ISN’T IT THE WORST WHEN YOUR KIDS ARE SICK ON VACATION!? She threw up a lot on the way to the hospital and then once more at the hospital. She also complained of stomach pains. They said she had ketones present in her urine which meant she was dehydrated. So we had to give her just a little bit of Pediatlie every 15 minutes so she wouldn’t throw it all up. I think it was around 7:30ish when they discharged her. She was still really weak. Poor thing. The room we were sleeping in I’m sure didn’t help the situation either because it was hot. Like sauna friggin hot! There was no AC and I think all the heat during the daytime just stayed trapped in our room. We had a fan going but that wasn’t really helping much either so we moved to another room so the kids could sleep more comfortably. Zoe threw up one more time before completely passing out for the night. Oh and I also remember passing through the kitchen and some of my sisters and their husbands were sitting around just conversing and all I heard were the guys talking about how the Lee sisters had “a tone” sometimes when we would get annoyed at the husbands. I just thought that was funny how they were comparing husband notes. My husband wasn’t there but I’m sure he would have whipped out his husband notes the length of a Harry Potter book.

Tuesday morning Zoe was still pretty out of it. She was defintiely conversing more but still wanted to sleep whenever she could. Ziggy and Nancy were really good trying to get her to converse and be more alert. I was busy packing all morning. By early afternoon we said our goodbyes and headed to the 2nd part of our family vacation. By the time the evening started to set in she was chatting up a storm.

There was a moment at the hospital where she was dozing off and C and I were talking about how Zoe’s non-stop chatter would drive us nuts at times. This was a time where we would have given up anything to hear it. I’ve never heard her so quiet.

Congratulations to Hannah and Matthew! Matthew, welcome to our family!
