  • Family Vacation :: Playa Del Carmen/ Home :: Day Nine

    Zoe’s Daily Funny:
    So last night the hubs was brushing Zoe’s teeth. He always props her head on a pillow and makes her lie down and he brushes her teeth as she looks up at him. Sometimes she still gets fussy and antsy. So when she is good she wants to make sure that it is recognized. So after about 30 seconds in I could tell she wasn’t listening and he threatened to hit her. She was still being a punk so he grabbed her foot and I heard this little slap.  If I were Zoe, I would have laughed in his face at his slap. I think he’s scared that she’s going to like hate him. So as I was walking by I said…

    Me:
    You didn’t even hit hard. You’re such a wus.
    Hubs: (laughing)
    Zoe: (pushing the toothbrush out of her mouth) Don’t hit. You’re such a wus. Unbelieval! (she’s trying to say unbelievable)
    Hubs: What did she say?!
    Me: Hahah She called you a wus.

    After about a minute into the brushing I heard her say to her dad…
    Zoe: (pushing the brush out of her mouth) Tell my mommy I listening.
    Hubs: Ok. Mommy, she’s listening.

    A few seconds later they were done and as she’s crawlling over to me on the bed she says…
    Zoe: Mommy. I listen! It’s a lie!

    What are you talking about?! No one said you weren’t listening you crazy girl.

    :: 07.12.10 :: Playa Del Carmen/ Heading Home :: Day Nine
    Oh thank God this is the last entry! Don’t get me wrong. I loved our vacation but I feel like I’ve been on this topic FOREVER since I’ve been taking forever and a day just to post up an entry. I didn’t realize it was nine days. This whole time I thought it was eight! On this day we woke up, packed up our crap and headed to the airport. It was a nice long vacation but we were all ready to go back to ”Zoe’s castle” (mmmhmm that’s what she calls our house). I like the photo of her sitting on the gray chair. We grabbed a table and we were waiting for the hubs to pick up some food for us. So I whipped out my camera and everytime she thought I would take her photo she’d turn away. Then I’d yell out “HA. HA. I took it!” and then she’d turn to look which is when I’d actually take her photo. Haha we did this like 5 times. On the flight home she was really good again. We were really proud of her on the plane going there and coming home. She’s like that kid that you wouldn’t mind sitting behind you on a 5 hour flight. 13 hours I’m sure would be a COMPLETELY different story! I think she also felt like a big girl cause she got to use regular seat belts which she liked to click on and off and she got her own seat. By the time we walked in through our front door it was past 11pm.

    My tips on travelling with kids on planes:
    -Book an early flight. Have them sleep late and wake up early so they pass out on the plane. I think for this trip Zoe slept at like 11ish and we woke her up at 6am.
    -Pack coloring books and crayons.
       I also bought her some colored pencils for this trip.
    -Pack quiet toys that don’t take up too much room in your bag and only bring them out one at a time when they really start to get fussy.
       For this trip I bought her new Toy Story miniatures and Wikistix
    -Pack books
       For this trip I let her pack one thick Disney princess book which had PLENTY of stories to last her 2 weeks.
    -Snacks, a juice box, and a bottle of water.
    -A dvd player with a dvd book of her movies and headphones
       Make sure that when you purchase a dvd player that it has a lock button so if you’re kid is really young they won’t be able to mess with the buttons. And make sure that the battery life is really good. Ours is only 2 hours.
    -Also an ipod with their favorite music loaded up wouldn’t be bad either if they enjoy music.

  • Family Vacation :: Playa Del Carmen :: Day Eight

    Zoe’s Daily Funny:
    A few weeks back I picked up Zoe from school and we were driving home. Just out of curiosity…

    Me: Zoe this car that mommy’s driving, is it your car or mommy’s car?
    Zoe: My car.
    Me: Um, no. It’s mommy’s car.
    Zoe: No mom it’s MY car.
    Me: You don’t even know how to drive it!
    Zoe: I do! I do. You put the keys in the hole and go vroom vroom.
    Me: Ok. It’ s your car.

    I woke up yesterday morning at 6 so I decided to go down and pack Zoe’s lunch first while editing some photos in between. When I came up to check on the hubs I saw him cuddling with Zoe who was still sleeping. I told him to hurry up and take a shower so that when I’m done downstairs I could just jump in the shower. His answer to me was so sad…..

    Hubs: Let me just hold her for a while she’s sleeping since she rejects when she’s awake.

    Hahahahaha….so sad isn’t it? I wish Zoe wasn’t SOOOO team mommy all the time.

    :: 07.11.10 :: Playa Del Carmen :: Day Eight
    On this day we woke up and since it was our last full day in Mexico we decided that we would would go swimming with dolphins and also let Zoe get a lot of pool/beach time in. They were really anal at the dolphin excursion about people taking photos. Whatevs. Like the photo of the manatee and seals? They were on my ass about taking those! Like c’mon! So I didn’t even get to take photos of us swimming with the dolphins and I totally forgot to purchase the ones that they took. Oh well. Afterwards we hit up the pool and the beach, of course Zoe wouldn’t go near the ocean. Shocking. We got cups from the pool bar and started collecting seashells and sand for our memory jar. For dinner we went to a hibachi restaurant on the hotel grounds and then afterwards we went to the nightly hotel show where Zoe got to dance with the other kids.

  • Family Vacation :: Playa Del Carmen :: Day Seven

    Zoe’s Daily Funny:
    So apparently she has a new word to add to her vocabulary. It’s the word ‘shy’.

    Zoe:
    Mommy, you’re Donkey and I’m Shrek.
    Me: No. I don’t want to be Donkey.
    Zoe: No, it’s ok. Don’t be shy. You’re donkey
    Me: Hahah I’m not shy!
    Zoe: No it’s ok mommy. Just be donkey.

    Another time she was playing with her wikki stix
    Zoe: Mom, do you wanna play with me?
    Me: No thanks.
    Zoe: Don’t be shy. Here you go. (shoving some wikki stix into my hands.

    So we all (as in my family) still have a cold. It’s mostly just the coughing we can’t shake. What gives man? We’ve all been having coughing fits all week. I called my OB and she said I could take some Robitussin. Whatever helps!

    So life is good. We’ve been busy. Zoe asked for my hand in marriage. Hahah it’s really cute. I’ll write about it in one of her daily funnies coming up after I’m done posting up my last vacation entries. You know, I never thought I’d say this but I actually don’t have time to write on Xanga as much as I’d like anymore. It makes me sad. Hahaha I’m being for real you assholes. It really does make me sad. I know. I’m pathetic.

    So Zoe has been growing up so fast, development-wise. I bought her  these Porro training chopsticks two weeks ago and she’s sooo good at it ! She’s also huge on sharing. It’s actually too much sharing. She’ll be chewing two gummy bear vitamins at once and she’ll ask me “Do you want some mommy?” I say “No thanks.” And she says “Here” and she’ll stick her finger in her mouth to take a piece out. Nasty. She’ll even share her last piece of something with you even though she loves it. She’s really sweet. She can open and close doors now. She talks A LOT. Like A LOT A LOT. I even woke up last night (God knows what time it was) cause she woke up and she was just jibber jabbering in the dark. I was so delirious I don’t even remember what the girlfriend was saying. Yesterday she saw a container of Pocky sticks on the counter and she asked me if she could have it. I said no so she responded back “but I want to eat it so I can like it.”  Clever answer but no. She also likes to talk about babies with no teeth. Like “When I was a baby I had no teeth and now I have teeth because I am a big girl?” Yes. She also likes to defy us. BRAT! Her father is a big chicken when it comes to punishing her. He like can’t do it unless she’s like on his last nerve. WUS! Yesterday we were arguing how about how Zoe saw her fingerpaint that I had bought her. He thinks it’s my fault that she saw it but if he didn’t pick her up she wouldn’t have seen it on the table to begin with. Zoe could tell we were arguing and she grabbed his hand and put him in a timeout for 3 minutes. When he asked her why she said “You don’t listen to mommy.” Did I tell you I love her? Yesterday she came home with a bad diaper rash and was bawling her eyes out every time we’d go near her ‘Hoo-Ha’. By this morning it was sooo much better but she had a rash on her back by the waist of her diaper. It turns out she pooped yesterday in school and didn’t tell her teachers for a long time and by then it reached up that high causing her that rash along with the diaper rash. There’s always something isn’t there?!

    :: 07.10.10 :: Playa Del Carmen :: Day Seven
    On this day we spent the whole day at Xcaret which is supposed to be an eco park. I would actually recommend 2 days. Only because if you have kids it takes twice as long to go through everything, plus feeding them takes God knows how long, and your possible melt downs in between, not to mention their nap time you have to squeeze in. We had a lot of fun here. It was a really hot day and every time it’d get hot we’d just go in for a dip to cool off. I thought the whole park was really well designed.

  • Family Vacation :: Playa Del Carmen :: Day Six

    Zoe’s Daily Funny:
    Every morning we drop Zoe’s dad off at the bus stop. Yesterday morning he gave me a kiss goodbye and then got out of the car. I lowered Zoe’s window and she said…

    Zoe: Good bye! Have fun ahpah! I miss you.

    When I picked her up after school she gave me a hug and said…

    Zoe: I waited for you mommy.
    Me: You did?
    Zoe: Mmmhmmm. You was working?
    Me: Yeah
    Zoe: So you can make moneys for Zoe?
    Me: Yeah. Pretty much.

    So Zoe has YET another cold this week. This one she’s coughing pretty bad though. I decided to stay home with her today so she could rest and get some alone playtime instead of running around at school and getting all worked up and excited. She pretty much wore her Snow White costume all day and we played games on the Wii and the computer together. Then naptime hit at 1ish. Girlfriend slept 3 straight hours. I’m glad that she got a lot of sleep though.

    My pregnancy is ok. I’m at week 28. This baby is so active that when it’s still for like 10 minutes I’m like “OMIGOD WHAT”S WRONG!” haha I’m over this pregnancy btw. I want it out. Like now. Hahaha

    Funny story about the husband. His friend Matt and his wife just had the 2nd kid. A little girl. I think it was about 2 weeks ago. This was my conversation with the hubs yesterday…

    Hubs: I might come home late tomorrow night. I might meet up with the guys.
    Me: Who? The Chinese guys or the Korean guys? (He’s got like 2 separate group of friends)
    Hubs: The Chinese
    Me: Why?
    Hubs: Well for one Matt’s been like MIA ever since the baby’s been born. He’s pretty good about writing back on email and he hasn’t even done that.
    Me: So he’s going to come out?
    Hubs: Yeah.
    Me: Omigod. You guys are like so pathetic. Hahahaha…
    Hubs: WHY?!
    Me: (mocking them in a whiney voice) Oh my wife just had a baby and it’s so hard for me because I didn’t push it out of my penis. Oh I need to meet up with the guys and relieve my stress after two weeks. Oh my wife’s having a baby in November so we need to take a ‘mancation’ to celebrate because I’m not the one pushing it out of MY vagina. OH boo friggin hoo. Dude like we’re the ones pushing out the baby. We’re the ones that stay at home watching the baby and feeding the baby. When you sleep and she wakes up crying you don’t wake up. I wake up. You somehow go deaf between the hours of 12-5am. You need a mancation because you’ve been carrying the baby for 9months? Oh boo friggin hoo!
    Hubs: HAHAHAHAHAHAHA

    It’s like cry me a friggin river! Hahaha I was just teasing him and his friends but guys, c’mon. Cut the shit.

    Today he just called me and said…

    Hubs: I’m gonna come home tonight.
    Me: You’re not going out?
    Hubs: No. How can I go out when my daughter is sick?
    Me: …….Are any of the guys going out?
    Hubs: …….No.
    Me: Hahahaha you’re such a douche! Don’t make it seem like you’re coming home cause of Zoe.
    Hubs: HAHAHAHA WHAT?!

    Hahahaha…dude I’m on to you shady!

  • Family Vacation :: Tulum/Playa Del Carmen :: Day Five

    Zoe’s Daily Funny:
    This week she’s been putting her father in time-out. She would drag him to her time out chair and make him sit in it. And then yell out his minutes and he would just sit there and pretend to cry. So on Wednesday she put him in a time out and yelled out “THREE MINUTES OKAY!?” and then she walked over to me while he fake cried. I said “Zoe why did you put daddy in a time out?” She answered “Because he don’t listen to me.” So I told her I think he’s had enough and that I think we should take him out of time out. So she went and ended his time out. A few minutes later I hear him talking to her saying…

    C: Zoe, ahpah neun hahneul (daddy is heaven) and you and mommy are ddang (earth).
    Me: Zoe put ahpah back in time out!

    I see Zoe get up and she grabs her father’s hand and starts dragging him back to her time out chair.

    Me: Zoe give him 10 minutes.
    Zoe: (yelling in her daddy’s face while waggin her finger) TEN MINUTES! OKAY!?

    Oh he soooo deserved that time out. And no he did not stay the full 10.

    Today I took Zoe to her dr’s appt. She told her teached that she needs to go see Doctor Hahn so he can look at her polka dots. Hahahaha. It turns out that the doctor doesn’t have clue either. He said it’s strange. It’s not bothering her and she seems fine so he said just watch her for the next few weeks and it’ll probably face. He thinks maybe it may have been a virus because a lot of viruses come with rashes but he said he’s kinda stumped too. He also cleaned her ear wax on her left ear and she was really, REALLY upset. She wouldn’t even let me kiss it and if I even touched her ear she’d start to cry.

    :: 07.07.10 :: Tulum / Playa Del Carmen :: Day Five
    We rented a car with a car seat for Zoe and after we checked out of our hotel we drove to Tulum. It was really hot and humid this day and Miss Zoe was starting to get cranky when we hit Tulum. After we were done with the Ruins we drove up to Playa Del Carmen and hit up a McDonald’s before we went to our hotel. We stayed at Iberostar. I think the hotel is really well made. They had all sorts of animals throughout the hotel. However I think quality service was lacking and after 3 hours of trying to check in and finally getting a room (we changed 3x) we were a little peeved.

  • Family Vacation :: Tulum :: Day Four

    Zoe’s Daily Funny:
    I ordered Zoe these really cute little black crocs last month. However her feet started to grow a bit in that short time so the shoes started to get tight and gave her blisters. So I ordered her these new crocs in red (she chose it since it’s her favorite color) and they arrived yesterday. They’re a bit big but she LOVES them and we also got a Snow White and Ariel jibbitz to go with it. Since they were a little big I told if she was going to wear them to school she had to wear it with socks. She wasn’t too keen on the idea. This morning I told her she didn’t have to and she was like sooooo happy . So on the 2 minute drive to school she kept talking about crocs.

    Zoe: I like my crocs mommy! Thank you!
    Me: You’re wecome Zoe.
    Zoe: I have red crocs. Chloe (friend) has crocs too. Chloe has purple crocs. Everybody has crocs. Mommy has crocs. Daddy has crocs. Mommy has black crocs. Daddy has block crocs. Mommy has small crocs. Daddy has biiiiig one. Mine is so cute. I have Snow White and Ariel.

    I mean how how much can you really say about crocs? Zoe apparently had a mouthful.

    Sorry I haven’t posted. I’ve been tired and so busy with my new position in the HR department.

    Today I’m making Zoe a dr’s appt. Tuesday when I picked her up from school she had these little tiny flat spots on her face. Almost like freckles. Her complexion is really nice. She’s got smooth skin and it’s just even toned everywhere that when she does get something on it I notice it. Yesterday I went to pick her up and it looked like there was more and it looked like it got darker. It doesn’t look like it itches or that it even bothers her but It’ll give me some piece of mind to know it’s not virus related or anything serious. Her teacher suggested that it might be freckles but I mean all in a day or two? I don’t think so. They’re even on the lids of her eyes. I’ll take a photo of it later today.

    :: 07.07.10 :: Tulum :: Day Four
    Two things I forgot to mention:
       1.
    I forgot to mention that in the middle of the first night Zoe rolled off the bed. Oopsie. She was crying and upset. I was worried about her getting a concussion I didn’t sleep so well that night but she was fine.
       2. When we were driving to the airport and even on our flight to Mexico Zoe kept saying “I so cited to see the ocean!”

    The weather  on this particular day was gorgeous. We got dressed, had breakfast, and then headed out to the pool. She hates the ocean. I think it’s just overwhelming for her. It’s big, and open,  and I think the waves scare her a bit. Later Zoe and I went into a little swimsuit store that they had at the resort. When I wasn’t watching her she touched one of the bulbs that was lit underneath a manequin. Right when I turned around to look at her I saw smoke fizzling of the bulb and I saw her pull away really fast. They just have to touch everything don’t they?! I didn’t take that many photos on this day.

  • Family Vacation :: Tulum :: Day Three

    Zoe’s Daily Funny:
    Last week Zoe started off the week with a fever. By thursday she was good. Friday she woke up with a runny nose and a bad cough. Yesterday her dad was getting her ready for school and he thought she felt a little warm. He got the digital thermometer and I could hear Zoe fighting with him because she wanted to take HIS temperature. So she sticks it in his ear, we hear it beep after a few seconds, her father goes “What’s it read Zoe?”

    Zoe: Z-O-E spells Zoe.

    :: 07.06.10 :: Tulum :: Day Three
    This day was a washout. It rained most of the day which is why I only have photos of us going to lunch and dinner. We stayed in and watched tv most of the day. Zoe had cabin fever.

  • Family Vacation :: Tulum :: Day Two

    Zoe’s Daily Funny:
    So on this trip I got eaten alive by mosquitos! C thinks I’m mental cause I talk like I’m the only one that EVER got bitten in the history of Mexico. Like you can bathe in an economy sized bottle of
    Off but it won’t do shit.I religiously sprayed it on each evening and nothing. I still got attacked (in all the places I sprayed, I might add). So Zoe saw me scratching my bites and just whining about it while we were walking outside.

    Zoe: What’s wrong mommy? What happen?
    Me: Zoe, the mosquitos are out to get me.
    Zoe: Squitos?
    Me: Yeah. They’re bugs that fly and they bite you and when they bite you you get an itchy like mommy
    Zoe: Ohhhhhh. Can I see?

    So she squats down to see the 5 bites that I had on my leg (SO FAR).

    Zoe: Are you ok?
    Me: I’m ok.
    Zoe: Can I kiss it?
    Me: Yes

    So she leans foward to kiss one and says “All better!” and the she gets up all of a sudden and starts yelling to the air…

    Zoe: SQUITOS! YOU LEAVE MY MOMMY ALONE! DON’T TOUCH MY MOMMY! IF YOU DON’T LISTEN…YOU GET A TIME OUT! OKAY?! LISTEN TO ME! OKAY!!!???  OR I GET MAD!

    And then she proceeded to do these invisible swings in the air to hoping that she might hit some. Oh Zoe, you sooo have my back unlike daddy, that bastard.

    :: 07.05.10 :: Tulum :: Day Two
    The day started of damp from early morning showers but it didn’t dampen our spirits. After breakfast we got dressed in our swimsuits and went swimming in the pool. Zoe was a lot more braver today and would jump off a ledge into our arms. She also made a new 4 yr old friend from Scottland. We started to notice little patches of red on Zoe’s skin and by the afternoon they’got bigger. We just kept on eye on her mysterious rash for the rest of the day. Oh and the hubs decided to extend her pool play way past her nap time which made Zoe super biyatchy. We went to check out the hotel’s kid’s club. You had to be 3 or older to stay. They let Zoe ride the swing for a bit and then when we decided it was time go she had a meltdown. See. Biyatchy. So by the time we went back to our rooms I put her down and the hubs went to go get us lunch and bring it back to the room. He tried their habanero sauce and fell in love even though he was panting and taking breaks in between his bites of Mexican food. I accidentally had a dash of it on something he brought back from me and I was DYING and tearing up. I just had a drop. I don’t know how he ate that throughout the trip. It started to rain late afternoon so we stayed in and watched DVD in our room. By evening Zoe’s face had pretty much cleared up so I was happy about that. We also decided to try their Italian restaurant that evening and I have to say it wasn’t that bad. Zoe loved their mac and cheese and then she finished it off with a bowl of ice cream and strawberry sauce.

    Oh and it turns out she was allergic to the sunblock we were using so the hubs went to the pharmacy and picked this one up instead and she was fine.

  • Family Vacation :: Tulum :: Day One

    So we are back!!! It was a nice long vacation but we are glad to be home. I can’t really say that it was relaxing cause when I think Zoe I don’t really picture rainbows and Yanni music playing in the background while sipping on something refreshing and staring out into the calm sea. It’s more like “Zoe, be careful you’re gonna get sand in your eye and it’s going to be a big ouchie” or “Zoe did you poopy yet? If you poopy you tell my right away” or “Zoe eat your food!” or “Zoe shut the door! You’re gonna let the mosquitos in!” So relaxing it was not but it was fun and it was great to get away from your everyday daily routine.

    Zoe on the flight there and back was really good. She would play with her toys, take naps, watch a movie with her dvd player and headset, eat snacks…. I mean she was really good I have to say. What I realized on this trip is that she really wants to be independent and now has opinions on things. For example her favorite line during this trip was “Only mine do it.” Which in English translates to “I want to do it myself”. And if she didn’t get to do it herself she would get really upset. Like God forbid I fork a piece of egg for her. She would slip it off and refork it. I get it, she wants to do things on her own but shit like that made C and I apeshit. And like since we were by the ocean and because we also rented Ariel Beginnings to bring with us on the trip she was all about Ariel.  She has really long bangs that we like to keep out of her eyes but every time we’d try to tie it up or put a hairpin to hold her hair away from her eyes she always retorted “NO! NO! I wear down like Ariel.” I mean it was humid there and I don’t know if it’s just our kid but dude her entire head would be drenched in sweat. Like as If I held her under the shower. She literally would have a drop of sweat dangling off her earlobe but yet she refused to tie her hair up. Even this morning she got into a fight with her dad about not putting anything in her hair so she could wear it down like Ariel. He threatened to cut her hair like a boy’s. He won that battle.

    Oh and she calls me mom like ALL the time now. She was even brave enough to call me Susan a few times and even now knows that her dad’s name is Andy.

    :: 07.04.10 :: Tulum – Day One
    Our flight left JFK at 8:30am. Everything went so smoothly with check in compared to our D.R. Trip. She got some new goodies on the flight that I let her open to keep her occupied. One of them was a set of Toy Story miniature figurines. From Cancun, Tulum was about an hour and a half away but it felt longer since our shuttle had to drop off one other family. Once we checked into our rooms we decided to go for a walk and walked by the pool. We told Zoe that we’d go swimming the next day and I heard her say to herself “I never go swimming” in a sad voice. So because C is totally whipped by her they went back to the hotel room to change into their swimsuits and she had so much fun that we stayed till almost dinner time before heading back to our hotel room to change and get ready for dinner. Since it was Indepence Day the hotel had a special buffet and show for their guests which was really nice since the Mexicans really couldn’t give two shits about a holiday in another country. I really liked the fire show. Reminded me of our old Twilo days.
