Funny Girl
Zoe’s really funny lately. I think since she’s been born this is my favorite stage. She does and says funny things and makes us crack up all the time. Last night C and I were lying in bed watching tv while Zoe lay in between us (facing us) drinking her milk. I said to the hubs “Hun let’s hold hands.” So we’re holding hands by Zoe’s feet with our elbows propped on the bed. Zoe decides to try and wedge her feet between our hands to separate us. She’s very determined and is working at this with both of her feet while drinking her milk. Finally she kicks our hands apart and hooks my hand with her feet towards her. She then grabs my hand and holds it. The point of this story is that no one is allowed to hold mommy’s hand except for Zoe and only Zoe.
Sometimes our daily conversations sound like this:
Zoe: AHduppa,duppa,duppa,duppa,duppa,duppa.
Me: No way! And then what did she say?
Zoe: AHduppa, duppa, duppa.
Me: So then what did you do?
Zoe: Umma’s chair.
Me: What? Are you changing the subject?
Zoe: Umma’s shoes.
Me: Wait. Did you just change the subject 2 times?
Zoe: Ahduppa, duppa, duppa.
Me:Wait, are you going back to the first story?
She’s been helping me too. After we’ve gone shopping I’ll tie up all the plastic bags and she’ll put them one by one in the drawer for me. I use our dish washer as a drying rack so after I’m done doing the dishes I’ll say “Zoe can you close it?” and she’ll push the rack in if it’s sticking out and close the door. She also loves putting her dirty clothes in the laundry basket and expects an ovation after it. Like as in she slowly turns around to give you enough time to start clapping. She now throws trash away in the waste basket. Oh you’ll like this one, her father has finally trained her to take his socks off after he comes home from work. Poor thing. She just don’t know.
We’ve taught her how to play hide and go seek. It’s really cute. She’ll sit at the bottom of the stairs and cover her eyes with her hands while I count to 10. Then we’ll run off to find her dad. Sometimes when I’m hiding with her I can hear her father walking around going “Zoe where are you?!” and she’ll start giggling and then she’ll yell out “THERE YOU ARE!” I’m not hiding with her anymore. She gives us away all the time. Sometimes she makes both of us hide with her in the same spot. The problem with this is that there’s no one to seek us.

For this reason I want to buy her a play kitchen for Christmas.

We got this at Cirque du Soleil and she still loves it. The red one is her designated nose but she’ll give you the orange one to wear. In the photos where her nose is in the air (ex: the fourth photo), she’s doing that because because she thinks it’ll keep it from falling off her nose.

My nephew is 2 years old and has claimed my house, grandma’s house, Uncle #2, 3 and 4 all as “his space.”
Babies rule the world. But they ain’t babies forever! hah.
I can’t believe your husband trained Zoe to take off his socks. Sigh. Men. That’s something my husband would do.
At least you got adult shelves to hold her toys. Our living room is really just one big playroom. There’s not one hint of adults living there.
Isn’t it funny how a small little body can take up so much space? M didn’t like me and Hubby holding hands for awhile too.
Yup, she’s your daughter with your humor…lol…….beautiful as always!….BTW, it only get more fun after this………gosh, she’s growing so fast!
our place looks like a disaster area all the time with C’s stuff EVERYWHERE.. we try to pick up after C but he comes right behind us and messes it right up again. I love Zoe in her black tights!
O gees… She’s a stinkin’ riot. Changing the subject instead of sticking to it.
Omg socks! I hope my hubs doesn’t read this and get any ideas…
yeah, imagine having 3 kids…talk about space invasion!!!
omg the sock thing is hilarious. i can just imagine the 3 of you all hiding in the same place. how long do you have to wait before you can come out? :p
@littlemisstomato - oh it usually ends really badly. she wants to sit there forever! so one by one we get up and she starts crying and yanking at our hands to make us sit in hiding with her. oh the drama.
Oh my goodness, I was aimlessly wandering Xanga and came across your blog.
LOVE IT!
and oh gosh, Zoe is just adorable.
I’m so young but I love kids and stories like these make me super excited to be a mother one day. Not anytime soon at all, maybe in another 11 or 12 years though haha.
Cute!
@rockpapercameron - awww why thank you!
Zoe is too cute! I especially enjoyed her “clowning around” bit.
That’s great she already puts clothes and trash where they belong–train them young!
haha, Zoe looks cute in that nose!
she’s so cute! do you think she has your personality or your hubby’s?
Of course Zoe is funny…she takes after you! Definitely get Zoe a play kitchen. We got Matthew a play diner (something more manly…according to Hubby) for Xmas. At first he played with it occasionally but now he cooks (hammmburger, fries & coffee) every night for me. In order to expand his cooking skill…I went and bought him play produce. Figure he should learn about cooking veggies too
i love your table and chairs–where are they from (the one for zoe)
@grechanka - the pink chair is from container store. i dont’ really like it. the chair and table are from ikea.
@joesee22 - hahaha you should get him a wooden wok! http://www.babble.com/CS/blogs/droolicious/2008/12/16-22/3710791_PlayWoodStirFry_H08.jpeg
